[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berrys!
Me and my husband and I are expecting in [name_f]November[/name_f], and we just found out it’s a girl. I have been set on the name [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] as long as I could remember, but we love long feminine names and we want [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] to be her nickname. Our style leans more towards trendy unique, but I like classic and familiar nicknames like [name_f]Hallie[/name_f]. I love [name_m]Halston[/name_m], but I don’t think the nickname “Hallie ” sounds natural with the normal pernucation of [name_m]Hall[/name_m]- Ston (as in Hallway). So, should we still name her that and call her Hal-Ston (as in the first part of [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] ), or use a different full name? We need all the help we can get! Any other ideas based on our style are welcome too.
I think Hallie is a beautiful name all on its own I know 4 people with the name (of various ages), and none of them have a longer name. The character on Parent Trap is also Hallie, and her family calls her Hal as a nickname, which I think is cute If you love Hallie, I think you are totally fine to use it as a full first name.
I like the name [name_m]Halston[/name_m] for a girl but I think [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] is a pretty name on its own! I think [name_m]Halston[/name_m] is good for when she’s an adult
I think halston would work! I think you can make any name work as long as it has a majority of the letters in the name — or even not. Some people are called completely different names that what their legal name is! [name_f]My[/name_f] husbands grandfather went by [name_m]Mack[/name_m] but his name was [name_m]Howard[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m].
Another option could be using middle name as [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] and having her go by her middle name!
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] is beautiful! Congratulations
Some name inspo:
Halianna
Halliel
Halloway
[name_f]Harlowe[/name_f]
Halaina
Halinor
[name_f]Halcyone[/name_f]
[name_f]Haleigh[/name_f]
[name_f]Hadley[/name_f]
Halstyn
[name_f]Harley[/name_f]
[name_f]Henley[/name_f]
Halston, regular pro., and Hallie don’t bother me. Sounds like you’ll be calling her Hallie a lot thereby reducing the need for many corrections or explanations. She’ll have Halston as a formal option. I wouldn’t change the pronunciation. Then, she’d be left explaining she goes by a nn and has a name w a rare pronunciation.
I love Halston!
I also like Hallie by itself, no longer form.
Your list is fitting for siblings!
Congrats and good luck!
I knew a girl named Hallen once, like [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] but with an “enne” ending rather than “ee.” I think that may work great for you!!! [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] is a gorgeous name!
More ideas:
[name_f]Hannelore[/name_f]
[name_f]Haldis[/name_f]
[name_f]Halliday[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Hallelujah[/name_f]
[name_f]Halo[/name_f]
It’s a bit of a stretch, but I’ve always liked Hallie as a nickname for Helena! I knew a little girl named Hallelujah who went by Hallie, as well as one who was just Hallie. It’s so versatile that you really can’t go wrong!
Since the nickname “Hal” is traditionally a nickname for [name_m]Harold[/name_m] & [name_m]Henry[/name_m], I dont think [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] for [name_m]Halston[/name_m] is too much of a stretch, especially of thats the name you love!
If it just doesnt sit right, and you’d like a name that is a little more direct Id suggest
[name_f]Haldis[/name_f]
[name_f]Halia[/name_f]
[name_f]Haliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Halima[/name_f]
[name_f]Halina[/name_f]
Mahala/Mahalia
Other names Id suggest based on your style…
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f]
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] nn [name_f]Billie[/name_f]?
[name_f]Polly[/name_f]
[name_f]Juniper[/name_f]
I think you could still use the Hall-ston pronunciation with [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] - there are quite a number of nicknames that don’t share the obvious sounds of the name - or rather, they don’t with the [name_f]English[/name_f] pronunciation anyway - like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] ‘Lottie’, [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] ‘Lexi’, [name_f]Evelyn[/name_f] ‘Evie’ etc. So I’d use Hall-ston ‘Hallie’ Still if it doesn’t work for you, it doesn’t work - so, some more ideas:
[name_f]Halliday[/name_f]
Halldora
[name_m]Callahan[/name_m] (maybe stretchy? but Callie-Hallie - all the sounds are sort of in the name?)
[name_f]Hannelore[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannele[/name_f] / Hannela
[name_f]Halia[/name_f]
[name_f]Hallelujah[/name_f]
[name_m]Halloran[/name_m]
Hansli / Hansley / Hanslee
[name_f]Hazley[/name_f]
Hazlett
We had a [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] in the family and I’ve always thought it was such a sweet, cheerful name. If that is what you love and what you intend to call her, I fully support naming her [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] It will make school, paperwork, and life in general easier!

[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] works fine on its own. It reminds me of a strong woman. You could also use [name_m]Halston[/name_m] but I think more of a male when I hear that name.
[name_f]Love[/name_f] the idea of using [name_f]Halcyon[/name_f] as her full names beautiful meaning, unusual, and the pronunciation matches [name_f]Hallie[/name_f].
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] is such a familiar and lovely name that you could absolutely use it standalone, and it would absolutely suit the feminine long names of any potential future sisters if that was a worry.
Also, if we look at the US name popularity chart of [name_f]Hallie[/name_f], it really matches that of a trendy (almost) unique name. I would say it’s feels more unique than [name_m]Halston[/name_m] even if [name_m]Halston[/name_m] is less popular.
I do definitely think [name_m]Halston[/name_m] works with the nickname [name_f]Hallie[/name_f], it may not be massively intuitive but it definitely works. But it’s about whether it works for you - is it better to use a name you love than force it as a nickname if she’ll be called [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] mostly?
