We’re having a girl and for a while I’ve been really in love with the name [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. My only hesitation is that our last name is Italian and sounds very much like the car “Maserati”. Would the two “ee” sounds at the end be too similar if her name was [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] Maserati?
Both my husband and I agree on the name too, which is a bonus! and we both dislike the full “[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]”, so that’s not really an option. (Some of our other name ideas include [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], and [name_f]Elle[/name_f], but I feel like I’m striking out thinking of any others that I love).
I know it’s kind of a personal and subjective question, but any thoughts would help! Thanks
I think it works just fine, because there’s a difference in number of syllables and the accent placement on both names. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]Murphy[/name_u] might sound a little repetitive. But [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] Maserati does not.
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] Maserati sounds really strong to me, and a bit glamorous-- as the above poster mentioned, the placement of the accents creates a nice rhythm. I happen to love matching first and last name endings, though, and have short-listed a lot for our future child even though their last name will end with a very Germanic “T” sound. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is a great match here, in my opinion.
