Help with Jewish names

Any Jewish berries out there that can help me with Jewish names? I need to know about naming traditions and customs. If it helps the Jewish family I’m naming is of Iranian descent but lived in [name]Israel[/name] for about ten years or so. Now they live in the US. Can anyone help or lead me somewhere that can?

What kinds of names are you looking for? Hebrew names or Jewish names? Because those are different things. If they live in [name]Israel[/name], they’ll most likely have either/or. Jews in [name]Israel[/name] have beyond the typical Bible names of [name]Jonah[/name] and [name]Sarah[/name]; they usually have either more obscure Bible names or other names in Hebrew… For example: [name]Tamar[/name], [name]Noa[/name], Shahar, [name]Yael[/name], Galit, Merav, [name]Shari[/name]…

I’m not too sure what I’m looking for right now. A mixture of both types of names would be nice if it isn’t too much of a hassle. Thanks!

Oh sure! There are tons, and you can comb the Internet for more. [name]Just[/name] type ‘Hebrew names’ into Google, and you’ll get plenty of results. Here’s one:

The Biblical names you’ll be familiar with, mostly:

Some other Hebrew names:

[name]Abital[/name]/[name]Avital[/name] (b’s and v’s usually interchangable)
Shoshanna (rose)
Tzipporah (bird)
[name]Malka[/name] (means queen - quite popular)
[name]Yael[/name] (goat)

Good luck! [name]Hope[/name] this helps!
