Our baby is due in [name_u]June[/name_u], I planned to name him [name_m]Peter[/name_m] but husband said people made fun of that name a lot because it sounds like male’s private part (is it true?).
So my second option is [name_u]Robert[/name_u], do you think it sound old for a baby? Please help me with a middle name that flow well with the last name [name_m]Smith[/name_m]. [name_f]English[/name_f] is my second language so I am not sure why some names combination sound good and some names combination sound bad, I appreciate if you guys can help.
[name_m]Peter[/name_m] can be slang for that body part, but [name_m]Ive[/name_m] never heard it used that way in the Midwest US. Not sure where you live, so I don’t if it would be a problem there. I know a little boy named [name_m]Peter[/name_m] and he’s never been made fun of for his name.
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] does seem a bit grown up, but the nickname [name_u]Bobby[/name_u] is adorable for a little one. [name_u]Robert[/name_u] is a very classic name than work with lots of middles. I think a name from your language/culture would be meaningful for the middle spot!
Thank you for your opinion
I have never heard that said about the name [name_m]Peter[/name_m]. [name_m]Peter[/name_m] was my grandfather’s name and as far as I’m aware, he was never made fun of because of him name.
I adore the name [name_u]Robert[/name_u]! Currently it’s one of my favourite boys names and I love the nickname [name_u]Robbie[/name_u]. It’s a very classic name that has stood the test of time personally, and although it isn’t overly popular now next to the Lucas’s, Oliver’s and Owen’s of today, I don’t think you can go wrong with a name like [name_u]Robert[/name_u].
I’ve met a couple of little [name_m]Roberts[/name_m]
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_m]Louis[/name_m]
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_m]Casper[/name_m]
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_u]Judah[/name_u]
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_m]Finnian[/name_m]
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_u]Jasper[/name_u]
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_u]Logan[/name_u]
I love [name_m]Peter[/name_m]! And while I’m aware of the slang term and what it means, I feel like that’s a dated term, I’ve never known anyone to actually use the slang. In fact I think the younger generation would associate [name_m]Peter[/name_m] with [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Pan[/name_m] and [name_m]Peter[/name_m] rabbit before the slang.
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] is classic and while it does feel a little grown up the nicknames [name_u]Robbie[/name_u], [name_u]Bobby[/name_u] and Bert/Bertie make it feel younger again.
Thank you, can you help suggest some middle name that flow well in [name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] please?
So these middle names flow well with the last name [name_m]Smith[/name_m] you said? Thank you so much!
Thank you, so what middle names you think go well in [name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] please?
Since [name_u]Robert[/name_u] has two syllables and [name_m]Smith[/name_m] has only one syllable, I think almost any three-syllable name that you like would sound good. You can click on “advanced search” on nameberry and search for three syllable names
Also since both [name_u]Robert[/name_u] and [name_m]Smith[/name_m] are very common, classic names, you could use something uncommon in the middle spot. Personally, I would choose something pretty unique for the middle name so he won’t share his full name with many other people. I would choose something that is meaningful to you, like a name that honors a family member or your first language.
I mean growing up as a boy he’s literally never gonna escape genital humor, so to me its not enough it avoid [name_m]Peter[/name_m] or [name_m]Richard[/name_m] or [name_m]Johnson[/name_m]. But if your husband doesn’t like it that’s a whole other matter.
I like [name_u]Robert[/name_u], you can get [name_m]Robb[/name_m], [name_u]Bobby[/name_u], [name_u]Bert[/name_u], Obey out of it. All babies eventually turn into old men if you let them grow long enough.
Middle names:
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] [name_m]Smith[/name_m]
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_m]Julius[/name_m] [name_m]Smith[/name_m]
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Smith[/name_m]
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_m]Martin[/name_m] [name_m]Smith[/name_m]
I think so, yeah!!
With [name_u]Robert[/name_u] and [name_m]Smith[/name_m] being quite short names, perhaps a three or four syllable middle might sound nice? Here are some ideas.
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_u]Oliver[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m]
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_u]Elijah[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m]
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m]
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] [name_m]Smith[/name_m]
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Smith[/name_m]
I also think these sound very handsome:
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_u]Daniel[/name_u]
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_u]Owen[/name_u]
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_u]Luca[/name_u]
Yes, [name_m]Peter[/name_m] has been used by some people as slang for that body part, but it’s not common where I live (US Midwest). [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I had it on our list. We think it’s great.
I also love [name_u]Robert[/name_u]. Distinguished, timeless. It’s a treasured family name of mine. I think to some people it does sound “older”, but the right nickname can help. [name_m]Rob[/name_m] was used by my generation. I know a baby [name_u]Robert[/name_u] going by [name_u]Robby[/name_u] right now. And I think [name_u]Bo[/name_u] and [name_u]Tobey[/name_u] would be great “new” options to modernize it.
As for middle names, since you’re going classic for the first and your last name is one of the most common, I would do something fresh and unexpected. You mentioned [name_f]English[/name_f] being your second language, so I would vote that you use a great name or word from your first language! But if not, something cool like… [name_u]Arrow[/name_u]?
Came back to edit: Sorry, forgot about [name_m]Smith[/name_m] when I said [name_u]Arrow[/name_u]. [name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_u]Arrow[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m]. Aerosmith. Silly me.
Congratulations on the new addition
I think that [name_m]Peter[/name_m] is just fine! It’s a well established name and I don’t think it will cause any issues! I’m not a huge fan of [name_u]Robert[/name_u]- it is a little old-fashioned but probably could work well on a boy today as a revival!
Since [name_u]Robert[/name_u] and [name_m]Smith[/name_m] are both pretty common, maybe a more unique middle name could tie them together! I’m a big fan of nature names, or more gender-neutral names- [name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_m]Moss[/name_m], [name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_u]Sky[/name_u], [name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_f]Gem[/name_f]?
