Help with Middle name!!!

So I am having a bit of a dilemma, we are currently expecting baby number 3, we have 2 boys 2 and 4.
We are trying to figure our boy and girl names right now as well as middle names.

We have used double family names for both our boys middle names, our first has [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] as middles names after my husband and dad and our second son is [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] after my maternal grandfather. If we have another boy we don’t have any other family names we would like to use!!! My husband isn’t close with his dad or his grandparents on ether side and my paternal grandfather wasn’t really a well liked person so we really are stuck!!!

If this is a boy I don’t want him to grow up and wonder why he wasn’t given family names as middle names…or maybe we can go back a few generations and find some family names that sound great.

any advice is welcomed!!!

Some ideas…

  1. You said [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] is after your husband and Dad- assuming one of those names is after your husband, can you use your husband’s other name?
  2. Can you use your maiden name or something inspired by it?
  3. Can you use a male version of a name honoring a female family member?
  4. Can you use a name honoring family history, such as a city of origin or a profession of a grandfather?
  5. You could repeat one (or two) of the middle names you’ve already used in a different combo. ex. [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m]

We used a family middle name for both boys but don’t plan on doing so with any existing children. We’ve only chosen names that are meaningful to us. If you can find something that resonates with you, great, but I think choosing a middle just because it’s a family name is worse than him not having one.

Are there any surnames or other honour types that stand out to you?

If not I would just skip the family name and give him something unique: after a writer you love, or mythology, or something along those lines. Good luck!
