Hello everyone! I really hope you guys can help me! I’ve been reading along and love everyone’s passion for names here!
Our baby girl is due in 3 weeks and we still don’t have a name. I would like a name that isn’t too overly used but also nothing too out there. It should also be a name that can be used internationally.
Here is a list of names I’ve been considering:
I really like [name_f]Kaia[/name_f]/[name_f]Caia[/name_f]. I’m not exactly sure on the pronunciation of [name_u]Romy[/name_u] so I wouldn’t suggest using that unless you really love it. For combos from your list I would suggest [name_f]Kaia[/name_f]/[name_f]Caia[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. Some suggestions:
I love [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. Not too fond of [name_u]Romy[/name_u] because it sounds a bit too nicknamey. I like the combos:
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
Middle name suggestions:
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] (I love this but [name_f]Rose[/name_f] might be a bit to common for your liking)
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Veronica[/name_f]
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_u]Madison[/name_u]
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u]
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] are my favorites from your list, but [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] doesn’t seem to have the international appeal you want.
What a great list! I really don’t think you can go wrong. Some more detailed thoughts:
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f]/[name_f]Caia[/name_f] - I think I generally prefer [name_f]Caia[/name_f] because it’s more directly related to the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_m]Gaius[/name_m], meaning “to rejoice.” I think that’s a great meaning. [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] is a variant of [name_f]Caia[/name_f], but it can also come from [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], so it’s a little more removed from that upbeat meaning.
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] - Personally I find the sound quite harsh, but that’s clearly just me because it’s getting very popular!
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], particularly because of all the nn possibilities. I’m partial to [name_f]Nell[/name_f].
[name_u]Romy[/name_u]- I think this is great; a nice balance between strong and cute. Generally I prefer it as a nickname for something like [name_f]Romilly[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], etc.
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f]/[name_f]Caia[/name_f] seems like an updated [name_f]Kayla[/name_f]. [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] is dated now and I think [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] might be, too, within a couple decades?
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is an international name and I like it best from your list.
My favorites from your list are [name_f]Kaia[/name_f]/[name_f]Caia[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. Both, to me, seem like they would travel well internationally, and are lovely names. You also mention you want a name that isn’t too overly used–I’m not sure what that means for you (outside the top 10, top 100?) but that might be a good reason to use [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] because though [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] only ranks 60th in the US, there are also a lot of “Ellies” out there.
If I were you I’d probably take a middle name from your list of favorites:
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Kaia[/name_f]
Both sound great to me, and then you can get the best of both.
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] has always sounded a little harsh to me personally, but I think it could be a nice middle name with [name_f]Caia[/name_f] (I generally like the K spelling–feels a little more intuitive, but with the “c” in [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] I prefer [name_f]Caia[/name_f]). [name_u]Romy[/name_u] had less of the international feel to me, but it does appeal to me as a middle name, especially if you go with a bit more traditional first:
[name_f]Caia[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_u]Romy[/name_u]
Thank you all for the thought and suggestions!
What do you guys think of [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]? Are the name styles too different?
And how does a sister [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] sound with a brother [name_m]Jacob[/name_m]? Or would [name_f]Caia[/name_f] be better since its the older orignal spelling?
I love [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]! Actually someone had another thread with a list of [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] combos and I picked [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] as the one I’d be most likely to use myself I think it balances a modern first name with a more vintage middle name, but both share the same energetic feel.
I like [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] and [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] as siblings as well. I’m not sure about [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] v. [name_f]Caia[/name_f]–I tend towards the K spelling, but [name_f]Caia[/name_f] does seem to “match” [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] more because it also has a “c” in it and is more historical. Does one or the other make for better initials with your last name?
