We are due in [name_u]July[/name_u] and have narrowed our girls name list down to 6 names… [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] (pronounced Loo-sha), [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Marina[/name_f], [name_f]Diana[/name_f], [name_f]Aude[/name_f] and [name_f]Laia[/name_f].
I also like [name_f]Jemima[/name_f] but that’s a newbie so not in the list yet.
Our surname starts with A and ends with an R.
Any thoughts on these names or on any nice middle names to go with these? Any others that we may have missed that fit this style?
We are thinking maybe family / nature names for the middle spot but are flexible. Names in the shortlist for the middle spot are [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], [name_u]Parker[/name_u], [name_u]Dune[/name_u], [name_f]Geraldine[/name_f], [name_u]Brooke[/name_u], [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Diana[/name_f], [name_f]Nell[/name_f] or [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]… but very open to suggestions!
I love [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], [name_f]Marina[/name_f] and [name_f]Frances[/name_f]!!
[name_f]Frances[/name_f] is classic and sweet, strong, feminine but not frilly
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is light and lovely
[name_f]Marina[/name_f] has nice imagery and a modern twist
For middles, [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f] , [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_u]Brooke[/name_u], [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] or [name_f]Marina[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] would be lovely
Some ideas (nature and variations on family names)
I’m not one to worry about possible mispronunciations, but I do think [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] could be quite challenging unless you (and she) are prepared to just roll with however people say it, because there are three different legitimate pronunciations and I know people with all three.
[name_f]Marina[/name_f] and [name_f]Diana[/name_f] get my vote!
I personally don’t think I know how to pronounce [name_f]Aude[/name_f], and [name_f]Laia[/name_f] could maybe(?) have multiple pronunciations, so I would steer clear of those.
[name_f]Marina[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] would be beautiful, and [name_f]Marina[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f] would be super cute.
For [name_f]Diana[/name_f], I like [name_f]Diana[/name_f] [name_u]Parker[/name_u] for a spunky middle, [name_f]Diana[/name_f] [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] for some beautiful flow, and [name_f]Diana[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] for a very classic, almost Victorian feel
Thank you all very much!!! I was worried that [name_f]Diana[/name_f] might sound a bit heavy but feel like it may be ok now
[name_u]Love[/name_u] some of the suggestions and will share with husband tonight.
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]-I like this, but only pronounced Loo-see-uh. Then there’s also the Loo-she-uh pronunciation. It seems like this name may be confusing. I wouldn’t let that stop you if you love it; just some thoughts.
[name_f]Frances[/name_f]-I adore this name. It has a sweet down to earth feeling. The nns [name_f]Franny[/name_f] & [name_f]Francie[/name_f] are spunky & adorable too.
[name_f]Marina[/name_f]-Ooh, so pretty! You don’t hear this often, yet it’s very simple & recognizable.
[name_f]Diana[/name_f]-For some reason, I can’t get into this name. I think it just seems a little dated.
[name_f]Aude[/name_f]-I understand the [name_m]French[/name_m] appeal here, but it also just kind of sounds like the word ‘odd’.
[name_f]Laia[/name_f]-I’m not sure how to pronounce this. [name_m]Lay[/name_m]-uh or Lie-uh? [name_m]Lay[/name_m]-uh is kind of nice. Names similar to this like [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Layla[/name_f], etc. are kind of getting over done.
If it makes the list [name_f]Jemima[/name_f] is my favourite! I love this. I also like a lot - [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Diana[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]. [name_f]Marina[/name_f] is nice as well. I’m not keen on [name_f]Aude[/name_f] but do like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]. [name_f]Laia[/name_f] is not as strong as the other names, a different style and feel as it’s not traditional as the others are. There are 2 syllable ‘L’ names everywhere so it may blend in a bit. [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]'s middle name was [name_f]Frances[/name_f] so just avoid that combo.
[name_f]Jemima[/name_f] always makes me think of Aunt [name_f]Jemima[/name_f] syrup, which is not a bad thing but is a strong and easy association. What about [name_f]Jemma[/name_f]/[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]?
