Help with names for friend's 4th baby - sibling to Jack, Brady and Colin

[name]Hi[/name] there,

I am writing on behalf of a friend pregnant with her 4th child - gender unknown. Many berries were helpful to me when I was brainstorming names for our DD so I thought I would reach out to the community. She has 3 DSs - [name]Jack[/name], [name]Brady[/name] and [name]Colin[/name], and she does not know the gender of her 4th and is not finding out.

Here are some boy names she and I have tossed around:
[name]Liam[/name]
[name]Rory[/name]
[name]Owen[/name]
[name]William[/name]

I have encouraged her to use a girly name if she has a daughter but she tends to like more gender neautral names for girls or surname names - I have recommended the following and/or we’ve discussed the following:
[name]Riley[/name]
[name]Kylee[/name]
[name]Teagan[/name]
[name]Morgan[/name]
[name]Rory[/name]

Please let me know what you think and offer any suggestions? Thanks so much!

Of your list [name]Morgan[/name] and [name]Owen[/name] are my favorite…
Boys- [name]Carson[/name], [name]Clark[/name]
Girls- [name]Dylan[/name], [name]Devan[/name]

I think [name]Liam[/name] fits the best out of the boys and I like [name]Morgan[/name] or [name]Teagan[/name] for a girl. The [name]Riley[/name]/[name]Kylie[/name]/[name]Mylie[/name]/[name]Kaylie[/name] names are sooooooo over done. What about [name]Ember[/name] for a girl? It’s feminine, but has that unisex feel to it.

From just reading the title, the first boys name I thought of was [name]Owen[/name]! I think that goes best with the other names. [name]Liam[/name] also goes really well. Maybe [name]William[/name] nn [name]Liam[/name]?

For girls names, I think [name]Teagan[/name] would go best with [name]Jack[/name], [name]Brady[/name], and [name]Colin[/name]. [name]Morgan[/name] fits too, but [name]Teagan[/name] is different, and much less popular than [name]Morgan[/name].

I like: [name]Jack[/name], [name]Brady[/name], [name]Colin[/name] & [name]Will[/name]
or [name]Jack[/name], [name]Brady[/name], [name]Colin[/name] & [name]Rory[/name]

[name]Colin[/name] & [name]Owen[/name] are too rhymey for me, and [name]Liam[/name] so popular. [name]Will[/name]/[name]William[/name] is always handsome & classic, and [name]Rory[/name] is fun & spunky. [name]Brady[/name] & [name]Rory[/name] have similar endings as well which is why [name]Will[/name] is my top choice!

For a boy for her, I also suggest:
[name]Sam[/name] - small name with lots of appeal, similar to [name]Jack[/name]
[name]Max[/name] - ditto
[name]Henry[/name] - classic but still cute for a little boy
[name]Archie[/name] - since she branched out a bit with [name]Colin[/name], but also has unassuming [name]Jack[/name] & [name]Brady[/name], she might like this UK favorite

For a girl I like: [name]Jack[/name], [name]Brady[/name], [name]Colin[/name] & [name]Aurora[/name], nickname “[name]Rory[/name]”
or [name]Jack[/name], [name]Brady[/name], [name]Colin[/name] & [name]Teagan[/name]

If she were my friend and she was open to all of the names you discussed, I know I would try to gently steer away from [name]Riley[/name]/[name]Kylee[/name] etc… they are “cutesy” but not distinctive…she may be lost in a sea of [name]Riley[/name]/[name]Kayleigh[/name]/Baylees. Obviously this is just personal taste !

Suggest:

[name]Keira[/name] - same feeling, Celtic origin, but feels less “juvenile”/will age well from little girl to grown woman.
[name]Aubrey[/name] - unisex but very pretty on a girl
[name]Shelby[/name] - also unisex but not uber-popular.
[name]Piper[/name] - has the spunky tomboy feel she seems to like.
[name]Romy[/name] - similar to [name]Rory[/name], but with a softer, sweeter sound

I like [name]Liam[/name] and [name]Morgan[/name] the best!

My favorite for a boy would [name]William[/name] nn [name]Will[/name]

for a girl I like [name]Teagan[/name] or a name that will give the nn [name]Rory[/name] - [name]Aurora[/name] is a nice choice.
Other girl name possibilities:
[name]Deryn[/name]
[name]Devyn[/name]
[name]Winslet[/name] nn [name]Wyn[/name]
[name]Blythe[/name]

However, I like your idea of a pretty girl’s name for a little one with 3 older brothers. [name]How[/name] about:
[name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Marguerite[/name]
[name]Brielle[/name]
[name]Zoe[/name]
[name]Bria[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name]

[name]Vivienne[/name], [name]Zoe[/name], [name]Brielle[/name], & [name]Bria[/name] mean life & strength respectively -which she’ll need in spades to keep up with her older brothers.

I think that all four of the potential boys’ names you’ve listed seem as if they’d be a great fit! I like all of them. [name]Rory[/name] in particular is really nice.

Out of those girls’ names, [name]Kylee[/name] is definitely my least favorite. [name]Morgan[/name] is fine, but it seems slightly dated on a girl to me. [name]Teagan[/name] is probably my favorite of those options, but I slightly prefer the [name]Tegan[/name] spelling.

Suggestions for a girls’ name:

[name]Sloan[/name] / [name]Sloane[/name]
[name]Kiernan[/name]
[name]Isla[/name]
[name]Greer[/name] / [name]Grier[/name]
[name]Blair[/name]
[name]Tierney[/name]
[name]Adair[/name]
[name]Afton[/name]

Wow thanks so much for the feedback. I am so happy to hear mostly positve reactions to the boy names - @peanut - [name]Sam[/name], [name]Max[/name] and [name]Henry[/name] are great suggestions - not sure if she’ll go for [name]Archie[/name] but you never know . . .

As for the girls, i love the positive feedback for Teaga and I really love [name]Aurora[/name] nn [name]Rory[/name]. [name]Keira[/name], [name]Aubrey[/name] and [name]Devon[/name] are great suggestions too. We also discussed [name]Piper[/name] and I will bring that up again. Winnslet is pretty. I havent heard of it before and I love [name]Winn[/name]. I think I like [name]Adair[/name] and [name]Afton[/name] is unique but believe these are noy my friend’s style. What about [name]Harper[/name] or [name]Rowan[/name] for a girl?

I actually know a sibset of [name]Jack[/name], [name]Tobin[/name] nn [name]Toby[/name], [name]Milo[/name] and [name]Carson[/name]…[name]Carson[/name] is the lone girl! To me it sounds definitely like 4 boy names!

For [name]Jack[/name], [name]Brady[/name], [name]Colin[/name] and…

[name]Liam[/name] - I like it with the sibset. I know several, though, so, I think it’s getting more popular. Not necessarily good or bad. All boy, though.
[name]Rory[/name] - Because of [name]Gilmore[/name] Girls, a lot of people see this as female.
[name]Owen[/name] - Probably my favorite from your list! Recognizable, but not used as much (at least where I live). And it all boy.
[name]William[/name] - I like it, but it might be too…formal, with the brothers’ names. 1 of the [name]Liam[/name]'s I know is a [name]William[/name] nn [name]Liam[/name].

Girls:
[name]Riley[/name] - I like it, but it is EVERYWHERE! For both genders.
[name]Kylee[/name] - I prefer [name]Kylie[/name] sp, but it’s not a bad name. Maybe a bit trendy. I don’t think it fits with the brothers’ names.
[name]Teagan[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name]! My favorite by far on your gilr list!!
[name]Morgan[/name] - Too unisex with the brothers’ names. They’d get confused as 4 boys, rather than 3 boys and a girl.
[name]Rory[/name] - Really like the suggestion of [name]Aurora[/name] nn [name]Rory[/name]!

[name]Harper[/name] and [name]Rowan[/name] I think are too unisex with the brothers’ names. I only know 1 [name]Harper[/name], a girl, but it is still very unisex. I know 2 [name]Rowan[/name]‘s, 1 male and 1 female. It’s very unisex, like [name]Harper[/name]. If the brothers’ had more unisex names, I’d say they could work. But with 3 very male names for brothers, a more girly name would be better. Or a more girly full name with a more unisex nn, maybe. ([name]Aurora[/name] nn [name]Rory[/name] is a good example.)

Other girl names:
[name]Leah[/name] (short and sweet, like the boys’ names)
[name]Sierra[/name] (all girl, nn Cici maybe)
[name]Pippa[/name] (could be too adventurous for her)
[name]Daniella[/name] nn [name]Dani[/name]
[name]Nicolette[/name] nn [name]Nikki[/name]
[name]Theodora[/name]/[name]Theadora[/name]
[name]Thomasina[/name]
Jessamin nn [name]Jessie[/name]
[name]Auden[/name]

[name]Harper[/name] is great. I love the literary legacy of [name]Harper[/name] [name]Lee[/name] or [name]Frances[/name] [name]Harper[/name].

Other great “boyish” names for girls:
[name]Brett[/name]
[name]Lake[/name]
[name]Tamsin[/name]
[name]Sutton[/name]
[name]Sawyer[/name]
[name]Ellis[/name]

My favorites are [name]Ellis[/name] or [name]Lake[/name]. Some of my dearest friends have names like [name]Kylee[/name] and [name]Riley[/name] and I am so much more thankful that my name has aged with me and has a professional yet friendly persona. I like simpler names for girls too, but I actually find [name]Riley[/name] and [name]Kylee[/name] about as feminine as they come and a little patronising as well.

My first thought for a brother to [name]Jack[/name], [name]Brady[/name], and [name]Colin[/name] was [name]Luke[/name]. [name]Liam[/name] would be a good fit as well.

I like . [name]Owen[/name] and [name]Liam[/name] and nickname [name]Rory[/name] for [name]Aurora[/name].

[name]Owen[/name] was my first thought, I think that’s a great choice. [name]Liam[/name] works well too, as do pretty much all of the boys names on her list. As for girls, I like [name]Kylie[/name] with her brothers names, and I second the suggestions of [name]Kiera[/name] and [name]Harper[/name].

Other ideas:

Boys
[name]Bennett[/name]
[name]Quinn[/name]
[name]Cameron[/name]
[name]Max[/name]
[name]Patrick[/name]
[name]Nathan[/name]/[name]Nate[/name]
[name]Evan[/name]
[name]Drew[/name]

Girls
[name]Bridget[/name]
[name]Layla[/name]
[name]Cara[/name]
[name]Delaney[/name]/[name]Laney[/name]
[name]Halle[/name]
[name]Sophie[/name]
[name]Tessa[/name]
[name]Erin[/name]
[name]Ella[/name]

From the lists you have given, I think [name]William[/name] is the best in terms of not sounding too similar to the other three.
I really like the suggestion of [name]Max[/name] or [name]Sam[/name] and think they are an even better fit.

The only girl name that I would go for from your list is [name]Tegan[/name] (just prefer this spelling).

Other ideas:

[name]Jack[/name], [name]Brady[/name], [name]Colin[/name] and…

BOYS:
[name]Oscar[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Xavier[/name]
[name]Milo[/name]
[name]Noah[/name]
[name]Leo[/name]
[name]Felix[/name]
[name]Austin[/name]
[name]Rex[/name]

GIRLS:
[name]Taylor[/name]
[name]Tierney[/name]
[name]Lexi[/name]
[name]Cleo[/name]
[name]Zena[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Darcy[/name]
[name]Andrea[/name] nn [name]Andie[/name] (or just use [name]Andie[/name])
[name]Kenzie[/name]

Good luck and let us know how it all progresses!

Wow everyone. Thanks so much for the continuous and thoughtful feedback. I will pass the info onto my friend and let you know what she thinks. Opalmoon - I too love [name]Sam[/name] (though this will not work with her last name) but I think [name]Max[/name], [name]Noah[/name] and [name]Leo[/name] are great suggestions that I could see her potentially considering. As for girls, i think [name]Teagan[/name]/[name]Tegan[/name] and [name]Aurora[/name] nn: [name]Rory[/name] seem to have the most support. I really like a lot of the options recommended (such as, [name]Georgia[/name], [name]Laney[/name], [name]Sophie[/name], [name]Darcy[/name], [name]Tamsin[/name], [name]Keira[/name], [name]Romy[/name] (too cute!!!) . . . to name a few.) [name]Tamsin[/name] seems like a good option and a nice alternative to [name]Teagan[/name]/[name]Tegan[/name]. I will pass all of your posts onto her. Your feedback also got me thinking of [name]Finley[/name] as an option? Anyway, thanks!

I noticed that someone on nameberry was wondering if [name]Rowan[/name] nn of [name]Rory[/name] would work. I think it does and it is a pretty, unisex name that may appeal to your friend.
