I tend to like names ending in “ee” sound, names with L’s in them, and nature names. Hubby likes… “Classic” names. Boring and bland, [name]IMO[/name]. He doesn’t like “flower” names - which I adore. I like unique names. Nothing top 10, for sure - and preferably not top 100 in my state ([name]Texas[/name]). Though that’s less important.
Names he likes for sure:
[name]Katherine[/name] and [name]Claire[/name]. He has come around to [name]Lily[/name].
Today, I randomly suggested [name]Iliana[/name] and [name]Molly[/name], which he liked.
Suggestions? I’d rather find something he likes and then force myself to
pick from that list later on. Right now, his list is super small - which is sad.
After a few days of agreeing to it, he tossed out the name [name]Aria[/name] [name]Azalea[/name]. >.< I loved it. He doesn’t. We’re not currently pregnant, but TTC.
A few to consider…
[name]Cassandra[/name] nn [name]Cassie[/name] - a classic with an -ee sound nickname
[name]Rosalie[/name] - also an older name. Pretty with an -ee AND an L. Also has a flower in it:)
[name]Clara[/name] - cute and classic
[name]Alice[/name] - also cute
[name]Coralie[/name] - -ee sound and an L, sounds a bit old fashioned but isn’t as far as I know
[name]Cassandra[/name]: “shrug”
[name]Rosalie[/name]: “no”
[name]Clara[/name]: “Clarabell. Reminds me of a cow”
[name]Alice[/name]: “At least that’s a normal name”
[name]Coralie[/name]: “No”
“The only one on there I would consider from there is [name]Alice[/name]”
As you can tell, already, he is picky. Ill type his responses as close to life as possible. Thanks in advance, guys. I’m running out of ideas.
I apolygize if any of these are superpopular where you live. I tried.

*My advice would be to try and pick a more “traditional” name that can have a more modern nickname. Best of both worlds. Best of luck to you!!! P.S I’m sorry if some of these are repeats from above.
Ok I thought of a few more.

[name]Sarah[/name] nn [name]Sally[/name] or [name]Sally[/name]
[name]Polly[/name]/[name]Pollyanna[/name]
So now I have probably given you too many names. See my previous post.
Good [name]Luck[/name]!
Sorry for repeats…I’m not sure if there are his type of names…I tried to mixed what you wanted with his preferences. It seems that a lot of the names he liked would be great for double-barreling. Perhaps he would be willing to have something more unusual paired with ‘[name]Anne[/name]’ or ‘[name]Jean[/name]’ or something like that?
I apologize, once again, on behalf of my husband. The only one he likes from there is [name]Claire[/name]. It’d be a middle name if we ended up using it, since we have a family friend with the name.
He did admit that he sort of likes [name]Penelope[/name] - which shocked me. He doesn’t like any nicknames for it, though - no [name]Poppy[/name], [name]Pippa[/name], etc. He tolerates [name]Penny[/name] as a nn for it.
I say take advantage! [name]Penelope[/name] is adorable, even without a nickname (He doesn’t like [name]Nell[/name], [name]Nelly[/name], or [name]Elle[/name], [name]Ellie[/name] either??)! I think [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Claire[/name] is cute!
The names he prefers are definitely core classics, but not outdated (i.e. Mary Ann). Many men share this naming taste, and are dragged kicking and screaming in to their female partner’s wider world.
So, you have Alice, Iliana, Lily, Claire, potentially Penelope, Katherine and Molly. That’s really not a bad list. In the same vein, trying to incorporate your preferences:
Caroline
Helena
Amelia / Emilia
Clarissa
Julia
Melora
Thalia (the Greek muse of history)
Valerie
Angela
Camilla / Camille
Celeste
Celia
Cecilia
Lucia
Rosalind
Simone
My oh is the same!! Anything slightly quirky and he says no!! He likes -
[name]Chloe[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name]
[name]Sophie[/name]/[name]Sophia[/name]
[name]Florence[/name]
[name]Mollie[/name]
[name]Freya[/name]
Hmm…
I’m like your husband I love classics like [name]Katherine[/name] and [name]Claire[/name]. But I also love nature inspired names. But I think if names have a history than you’ve hit the nail on the head concerning naming. Unless the history is very negative like [name]Adolf[/name] for example, you’ve got a great name. I think for you I think you need to compromise and go for an unusual yet historical name. Names like [name]Eleanor[/name] ‘[name]Elle[/name]’ are more likely to work for both of you than arguing between [name]Aria[/name] [name]Azalea[/name] (very cute by the way) and the understated [name]Claire[/name]. Out of the names listed above I like [name]Katherine[/name], [name]Claire[/name], [name]Lily[/name] and [name]Aria[/name] [name]Azalea[/name]. I dislike [name]Molly[/name] which reminds me of moles and [name]Iliana[/name] is okay prefer [name]Eliana[/name].
Eliminating the ones I/he doesn’t like (that I’ve asked him previously) and I’ll ask him about the rest tonight.
Family names are:
[name]Valerie[/name]
[name]Sophia[/name]
and his ex’s cat is named [name]Freya[/name] - so, no. xD
Which means I’ll be asking him about:
[name]Melora[/name]
[name]Chloe[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name]
[name]Mollie[/name] (I like the alt spelling, here)
[name]Rosalind[/name]
[name]Simone[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] / [name]Emilia[/name]
[name]Lilia[/name] ‘[name]Lily[/name]’
[name]Imogen[/name] ‘[name]Immy[/name]’
As far as our current list:
[name]Alice[/name] - I can’t stop thinking twilight. I might need to say this outloud a bit more to see if I find it a viable choice.
[name]Iliana[/name] - I liked the suggestion of [name]Eliana[/name], too.
[name]Lily[/name] - I love the name, don’t get me wrong - but it’s SO widespread and used so frequently. I liked the idea of [name]Lilia[/name] nn [name]Lily[/name] since it’s fresher sounding then [name]Lilian[/name]/[name]Liliana[/name]. I also like the idea of [name]Lila[/name], but I want to run that by hubby.
[name]Claire[/name] - MN only.
[name]Penelope[/name] - [name]Love[/name] this name in theory, but I’m trying to forget that my grandpa used to have a bulldog [name]Penelope[/name]. Might need to do the same thing as with [name]Alice[/name].
[name]Katherine[/name] - [name]Love[/name] the name, but there are SO many people named “[name]Katie[/name]” around. I love the name [name]Kate[/name] - hate [name]Katie[/name], and it’d become [name]Katie[/name] so quick.
[name]Molly[/name] - Still loving this one.
I’m holding out hope that there’s a name that we both [name]LOVE[/name] >.<
What I don’t want is to have a child have to go by their last name - Katie A, Katie D, etc – because there are others like her in their class. It’s the reason Paisley is off my list (nee hubby)-- because there are too many around here, already. Same with Cadence.
I also want to throw the name Maci/Macy at him today to see what he thinks of that.
What about [name]Katherine[/name] nn [name]Rin[/name]?
I’m taking your naming dilemma to the almighty Nymbler. It suggests:
[name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Antonia[/name]
[name]Lena[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name] (I think this would be an awesome choice. You could call her something out there- such as [name]Zibby[/name] or Libba- or something more common like [name]Ella[/name]/[name]Ellie[/name] or [name]Beth[/name])
[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Sophie[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name]/[name]Annabelle[/name]
[name]Elise[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Antoinette[/name]
[name]Veronica[/name]
[name]Talia[/name]
[name]Audra[/name]
[name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Esmeralda[/name]
[name]Isabelle[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
