Help with Nessa!

I am currently in [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] with the name [name_f]Nessa[/name_f] but it feel its a nickname. What full/formal name could be shortened to [name_f]Nessa[/name_f] other than [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] and [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]? I don’t need to see ‘nessa’ in the name to be appeased! I’ll accept a leap! Help please!

[name_f]Natasha[/name_f] & [name_f]Glynis[/name_f] are all I can think of.

[name_f]Sienna[/name_f]
[name_f]Denice[/name_f]
[name_u]Tannis[/name_u]

There was a thread yesterday with the name, [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] and I thought then that [name_f]Nessa[/name_f] would be a good nn! I love [name_f]Nessa[/name_f]!

[name_f]Agnessa[/name_f], [name_f]Agneska[/name_f] (ag-nesh-ka), Agnieszka (ag-nee-esh-kah), Contessa, [name_f]Quintessa[/name_f], [name_f]Janessa[/name_f], and my favourite is the Shakespearean [name_f]Nerissa[/name_f]!

Nessarose from Wicked went by [name_f]Nessa[/name_f]. I know one poster has it on their list.

I’ve always loved [name_f]Nessie[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], so I think [name_f]Nessa[/name_f] would work beautifully for [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], too! Also, you might like [name_f]Nesta[/name_f], which I think is the Welsh version of [name_f]Agnes[/name_f]…sounds very close to [name_f]Nessa[/name_f], with a bit of a cute bird’s nest connotation.

[name_f]Nerissa[/name_f] is a beautiful name easily becomes [name_f]Nessa[/name_f]

I second (third?) [name_f]Nerissa[/name_f].

[name_f]Anessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Janessa[/name_f] (already mentioned)

And of course, another already mentioned name, [name_f]Agnes[/name_f].

Have you considered the name [name_f]Jessa[/name_f]? I like that even more than [name_f]Nessa[/name_f], personally.

I wouldn’t consider [name_f]Nessa[/name_f] as sounding too nicknamey. Neasa (pronounced either [name_f]Nya[/name_f]-sa or [name_f]Nessa[/name_f]) and [name_f]Nessa[/name_f] as a variant are well known in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]. Neasa comes from old Irish legend and was the mother of a famous king of Ulster. So I vote keeping it as it is!
