I like the name [name_m]Callan[/name_m]/[name_m]Callen[/name_m] but my DH has his heart set on the name Kaz. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think we could get away with naming our boy [name_m]Callan[/name_m] with Caz as his nn?
Totally. I prefer nicknames that are a little different.
I think it would be a stretch as the “natural” nn for [name_m]Callan[/name_m] would be [name_u]Cal[/name_u].
[name_u]Cal[/name_u] would be the obvious choice, of course, but I think Caz could work. I like nicknames that are a bit more creative.
I think that would definitely work as a nn! Not too far off at all.
It’s similar to the [name_m]Charles[/name_m]/[name_m]Chaz[/name_m] nn.
I think it could totally work! The first two letters are the first two in the name so it feels natural – but with a little twist.
Caz would totally work! I knew a male [name_f]Carol[/name_f] who hated his name so he went by Caz, so I don’t think [name_m]Callan[/name_m] nn Caz is a stretch at all.
Considering all the nicknames that my Mum calls me that have nothing or very little to do with my name, I think Caz would work well as a nickname for [name_m]Callan[/name_m].
It’s not that out there. I think you could easily get away with it.
It’s not intuitive, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. So many nicknames aren’t derived from the name (ex. I call my nephew [name_m]Bubba[/name_m] and his real name is [name_m]Jack[/name_m]) so if your husband wants to call the baby Caz, I think that’s fine!
