Help with punctuation on girl name.

My hubby and I are TTC and I’ve been looking at names. I love unique and uncommon names so when I heard this name I fell in love. Problem is, I don’t know how it should be spelled a d research didn’t help. The name sounds like [name_f]Anna[/name_f]-lie. [name_f]Annelie[/name_f] is pronounced [name_f]Anna[/name_f]-lee. I thought maybe [name_f]Anneli[/name_f], but it’s still prounoced with the [name_u]Lee[/name_u] sound. So I was thinking of spelling it Annelei like [name_f]Loralei[/name_f]. Or Annelye. Maybe Annelai? I’m just not sure. Thoughts?

Annalei or Annelei would make the most sense to me. Not a fan of the way Annalye looks, and [name_f]Anneli[/name_f] could also lead to pronunciation problems. Annelai might also work. Sorry, that probably wasn’t too helpful. Pretty name, though!

I think [name_f]Annalie[/name_f] would be the clearest in terms of pronunciation. I also think it looks the prettiest!

I’d say that Annalye is the clearest pronunciation, but it doesn’t look the best.Prettiest personally is [name_f]Analie[/name_f], but I’d pronouce that as [name_f]Anna[/name_f]-lee. I would definitely pronounce [name_f]Anneli[/name_f] as [name_f]Anne[/name_f]-lee or [name_f]Annelie[/name_f] as [name_f]Annalee[/name_f], so I personally would not use those. My vote goes to Annalei or Annelei

If I saw [name_f]Anneli[/name_f] or [name_f]Annalie[/name_f], I’d say “[name_f]Anna[/name_f]-lee”

If I saw Annalei or Annelei, I’d say “[name_f]Anna[/name_f]-lay”

The only way I would say “[name_f]Anna[/name_f]-lie” the first time would be Annelai/Annalai.

I think you will have spelling and pronunciation issues no matter which option you choose, which is to be expected when you go with a name that is a modern invention; invented names are not bad, but they have no history, and people will be forced to guess. This is slightly different from when people spell an established name “kre8tivleigh” because if you see Elyzabeth or Maddisyn, you can compare to [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_u]Madison[/name_u] and take the pronunciation from there.

If you can deal with correcting people and spelling out her name, then it’s a go.

I would go with Annelai, Annelei, Annalei or Annalai.

You will inevitably run into pronunciation or spelling issues, but it’s up to you how much that impacts your decision.

I personally would avoid all [name_f]Anna[/name_f]-[name_u]Lee[/name_u] variants because of its similarity to the word anally.
(Eg: [name_f]Annalie[/name_f], [name_f]Analie[/name_f], [name_f]Annelie[/name_f])
Not a good connection.
