Help with readingreverie's official list!

Hello, friends! :dove:

Recently, I’ve begun to look at my lists under a microscope, hunkering down on them in an effort to make them the most realistic reflections of my naming style, lists completely and entirely ready for when I have children. So, I decided to go through and try to find every name I like to create one overarching list of all my favorites. I combed through the top 1000 names from 2023, my own listography, and my UC, and compiled a list of my favorites. This long list then got cut in half, to another list that then got cut in half again, to my final list that I think is sort of a good reflection of my style?

I swear I’m missing like 50+ names I love and just forget about!

Anyway, now that I have an “official” list, I would love to know what you all think of it— names you think I should keep or remove, what vibes the list gives off, how you’d pair the names in combos or sibsets, or any way you want to engage with it!

And as a bit of a bonus, do you think the vibes of my top girls names match the imagery I have in mind for what I like my names to exude? The imagery I love: little girls in chunky knit sweaters, walking to school with their favorite books in their arms, backpack hanging open as they were late, making up songs and performing them for mama and dada, picking wildflowers and making flower crowns and bracelets, collecting rocks and keeping a drawer full of them, playing dress-up, pretending to be princesses and warriors, migrating into one bedroom, preferring to sleep together instead of alone, stuffed animals tucked under their arms as they run outside to play in the mud, requesting “just one more” bedtime story for hours each night, dressing up as witches for halloween, a firm belief of magic and fairies, a love of baking, butterfly kisses and rosy cheeks.

Mollie's Girls!

I added some explanation to the names, but don’t let that deter you!

[name_f]Agnes[/name_f] - Potentially my favorite name, love it’s connection to my favorite character [name_m]Nesta[/name_m].
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] - [name_f]Love[/name_f] as a first, might only use it as a middle since I don’t like the nickname options.
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] - Maybe too common for a first.
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] - [name_f]Love[/name_f] it, question if I’d actually use it as anything more than a middle IRL.
[name_f]Birdie[/name_f] - [name_f]Love[/name_f], would realistically only be a nickname.
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] - [name_m]Will[/name_m] be using it - current top combo is [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f], unchangeable!
[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] - [name_m]New[/name_m] love, don’t know if I’d use it unless my partner was Welsh.
[name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] - [name_f]Love[/name_f] paired with [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], hope to use it as a middle, honors my mom.
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] - IDK if I’d use [name_f]Clara[/name_f] or [name_f]Clare[/name_f].
[name_f]Clare[/name_f] - See [name_f]Clara[/name_f].
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] - [name_f]Love[/name_f], might be too cutesy as a first.
[name_f]Delphinium[/name_f] - Only as a middle or if my partner loved unique names.
[name_f]Elaine[/name_f] - Only as a middle.
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] - In my current top 4 alongside [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], and [name_f]Fern[/name_f], worry I couldn’t use it as a first as it’s been used by family. Luckily I love the combo [name_f]Fern[/name_f] [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]!
[name_f]Favor[/name_f] - [name_m]New[/name_m] love, don’t think I’d use it IRL even if I really wanted to.
[name_f]Fern[/name_f] - [name_m]New[/name_m] love, unchanging combo is [name_f]Fern[/name_f] [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f].
[name_f]Frances[/name_f] - Likely my #5 name.
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f] - Would be more likely to use [name_f]Frances[/name_f].
[name_f]Hortensia[/name_f] - See [name_f]Delphinium[/name_f].
[name_f]Hyacinth[/name_f] - See [name_f]Delphinium[/name_f], would be more likely to use this than [name_f]Delphinium[/name_f] and [name_f]Hortensia[/name_f].
[name_f]Junia[/name_f] - See [name_f]Favor[/name_f].
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] - Trying it out as a alternative to [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], but still prefer [name_f]Eloise[/name_f].
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] - [name_f]Love[/name_f], don’t know if I’d actually use as a first.
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - Old love, has a sort of nostalgia so I can’t bring myself to take it off the short list!
Meritt - See [name_f]Favor[/name_f].
[name_f]Oona[/name_f] - See [name_f]Favor[/name_f].
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] - [name_f]Love[/name_f] the sound and connection to [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] Buffay, don’t love the look.
[name_f]Prudence[/name_f] - Only as a middle.
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] - Re-found love, has been used by family so I could probably only use it as a middle.
[name_f]Sybil[/name_f] - [name_f]Love[/name_f] the witchy feel, would only use it in the event that my partner didn’t love that of [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], [name_f]Fern[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f] and preferred [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], and [name_f]Winifred[/name_f].
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] - See [name_f]Sybil[/name_f].
[name_f]Viola[/name_f] - IDK if I’d use [name_f]Viola[/name_f] or [name_f]Violet[/name_f].
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] - See [name_f]Viola[/name_f].
[name_m]Vision[/name_m] - See [name_f]Favor[/name_f].
[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] - [name_f]Adore[/name_f] as a middle, current top combo is [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f].
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f] - See [name_f]Sybil[/name_f].

PS - I’ve also posted a boy version of this thread and would love to hear your opinions there as well! Help with readingreverie's official list!

Your list is so lovely!! It gives vintage gardening grandma vibes in the best way

Here’s how I would describe it with emojis: :house_with_garden: :dove: :bouquet: :strawberry: :herb:

It’s so tough because the names are all so beautiful, but if I had to pick some to remove that I think least fit the vibe, I’d choose [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f], [name_f]Favor[/name_f], Meritt, and [name_f]Violet[/name_f].

Reasoning:

[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] is beautiful, but she feels a little more whimsical/mystical than the down-to-earthiness of the rest of the list, so she just doesn’t feel like a perfect fit to me

[name_f]Favor[/name_f] doesn’t feel like it exactly fits the word name vibe, idk I think the associations are a bit much especially when trying to match this vibe

Meritt - Meritt feels a little more rough-and-tumble compared to the rest of this list, I really do like her a lot but she just doesn’t match super well!!

[name_f]Violet[/name_f] - [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is pretty, but I think [name_f]Viola[/name_f] just fits the vintage vibes so much better!!

If I were to make a sibset from this list, I’d go with [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], and Louisa!!
(If you couldn’t tell, I absolutely adore your [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :green_heart: what a fantastic name!!)

@winterlyricalfox Thank you so much for the thoughtful reply! I love the description of “vintage gardening grandma,” it reminds me of a list I made a few days back called “garden grandpa.” Definitely the vibe I love! I definitely get that these names stick out a bit, [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] especially, so thank you for pointing that out! Now that you mention it, [name_f]Viola[/name_f] definitely fits the vibe a little better, she perhaps wins the [name_f]Viola[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] debate! [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] are lovely together. And thank you! I’m so glad you love [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f]! She’s different from what I usually go for, but she pushed the envelope of what I usually go for, and has launched me into a more unique / fun list, pushing my more unexpected names into the first spot and the more classic ones to the middle. Thanks again for the reply! :white_heart:

Your list is definitely giving me storybook vibes - sisters who are also best friends, tough and compassionate, outdoorsy and imaginative!

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites:

[name_f]Agnes[/name_f] - clunky but elegant
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] - light and bright but strong
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] - sweet and elegant but spirited (plus nn Birdie?)
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] - bright, distinctive and lovely
[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] - gorgeous!
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] - much prefer this. This gives me the vibes you’re after whereas [name_f]Clare[/name_f] feels 70s/80s to me
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] - I find it elegant but playful - maybe because I say it with the TINE ending over TEEN it doesn’t feel cutesy to me?
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] - sleek and pretty and friendly
[name_f]Fern[/name_f] - gorgeous, earthy and lovely
[name_f]Favor[/name_f] - it’s very cool and interesting and distinctive (maybe because I’ve met a [name_f]Favor[/name_f] - well, [name_m]Favour[/name_m] - it doesn’t sound too out there?)
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f] - but [name_f]Frances[/name_f] feels more like it fits
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] - warm, mystical and lovely
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - strong and cheerful
[name_m]Merritt[/name_m] - meaningful, zippy and lovely
[name_f]Oona[/name_f] - beautiful and wonderful
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] - cheerful and sweet
[name_f]Viola[/name_f] - I’d use this - [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is nice but it falls a bit on the sharp side with your others
[name_m]Vision[/name_m] - so very cool
[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] - lovely middle, witchy and charming

@Greyblue Thank you for the reply!! I’m so glad you get storybook vibes from them, as that’s something I really strive for! [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] “Birdie” is one I always forget about! I definitely get what you say about both Clare/Clara and Violet/Viola! It’s so cool you’ve met a [name_m]Favour[/name_m]! Definitely a name I can see getting more popular. Thank you again!

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]

I think your names fit your vibe very well, though I was expecting some more cottagey names on there, and possibly even more clunk. Really nice list

What a wonderful list!

I especially enjoy seeing these names on someone’s list:
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphinium[/name_f]
[name_f]Elaine[/name_f]
[name_f]Junia[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Delphinium[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] and [name_f]Junia[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] would be nice as sisters.

I don’t think the list exactely matches the imagery because some names are more adult names to me. I think “vintage gardening grandma” as winterlyricalfox said is a fitting description.

Your list is charming. Many of these have been on my own list.

On a whole, your list reads Victorian to me with a handful of outliers. I think the individual names themselves could go in different directions but taken together, the style feels distinguished and slightly fanciful. Think garden parties and floral frocks.

For the imagery you have in mind, I find [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Clare[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] fit the description best. Mind you, some names are harder to picture on a contemporary child in the first place since they’re so rare or not in style.

Sibling sets

[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Fern[/name_f] & [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] & [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]

[name_f]Birdie[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f] & [name_f]Oona[/name_f]

[name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Hyacinth[/name_f] & [name_f]Viola[/name_f]

[name_f]Junia[/name_f], [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] & [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]

[name_f]Agnes[/name_f], [name_f]Favor[/name_f] & [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]

[name_m]Vision[/name_m], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] & [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]

[name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] & [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]

[name_f]Elaine[/name_f], Meritt & [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]

Combinations

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Clare[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]
[name_m]Vision[/name_m] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Favor[/name_f]
[name_f]Oona[/name_f] [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]
Meritt [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_f]Prudence[/name_f]

@Lula-Rose Aww, thank you so much! I do think several of my clunky cottage names got nixed off of this list, but they’re still there on the sort of “medium” list, I couldn’t let them go quite yet! Thank you again for the reply!

@Johannaa Thank you for the reply! [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Delphinium[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f], and [name_f]Junia[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] are lovely together! I do get what you mean by the difference in imagery! I do usually go for more vintage gardening grandma! Anyhow thank you so much!

@kachenka Thank you so much for the response! I love that description and I do definitely have a special love for Victorian names! These sets are absolutely gorgeous! I’m especially loving [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Hyacinth[/name_f], and [name_f]Viola[/name_f], [name_f]Junia[/name_f], [name_f]Prudence[/name_f], and [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], and [name_f]Elaine[/name_f], Meritt, and [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]! These combos are lovely too! [name_f]My[/name_f] favorites would have to be [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], [name_m]Vision[/name_m] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], Meritt [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], and [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_f]Prudence[/name_f]! Once again, thank you for the reply!

@AStudyIn_Scarlet Thank you for the reply!! I’m so glad you associate some of these names with me / that I’ve mentioned them enough on the forums that they stick out as ones I should use! Sometimes I feel like I don’t mention the names I love enough, so I’m glad it doesn’t seem that way!
