We have a boy and a girl with vintage ‘stone’ names. I call my kids the nuggets.
They are [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]Brian[/name_m] secondmiddlename hyphenatedlast (oldest) and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] secondmiddle hyphenatedlast(younger). Great right?
I need a third name for a girl!
We are kicking around [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] but it doesn’t grab me. I like [name_u]Silver[/name_u] for her, but not sure how it coveys to others. Her second middle name is Chinese and means binder of the gems.
[name_f]Welcome[/name_f] to Nameberry! [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] are lovely! I like [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] but I’m not crazy about [name_u]Silver[/name_u]. Here are some other “gem” suggestions, some are more unusual and more subtle than others.
Your children have great names. [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] would work well, but if you don’t like it, I wouldn’t use it just to carry out the theme. [name_u]Silver[/name_u] seems more modern than [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. From the gem suggestions, I think [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Coral[/name_f], [name_f]Garnet[/name_f], or [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] work with the vintage feel of [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u].
You could also use a name meaning gold or silver. Some possibilities:
I like [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Jade[/name_f], [name_f]Amber[/name_f], and [name_f]Coral[/name_f] to go with [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. They are more classic names. That is a really neat idea for names.
I’ve known a few Sterlings, and [name_f]Emerald[/name_f] immediately came to mind since it seems to be thrown about more this last while. [name_f]Jade[/name_f] might be nice to tie in with the Chinese middle name. I just read some of a meaning for the gemstone, saying “[name_f]Jade[/name_f] is said to bless whatever it touches”. Sounds perfect to me! – [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] & [name_f]Jade[/name_f]. Good luck!
