[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! I’m writing a story based upon two female cousins who live together, go to the same school, and are closer than sisters. I’d like both their names to shorten to nicknames that start with the same letter.
For one of the characters, I’m thinking of the name [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] “[name_f]Evie[/name_f].” We’ll call this “Character 1” for now. Character 1 needs to have a nickname that comes from the beginning of her longer name. Character 2’s nickname must start with the same letter as Character 1, but come from the MIDDLE of her longer name.

Almost any name ending in “elle” could be nicknamed [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] or [name_f]Elle[/name_f], and names containing “em” could be “[name_f]Emmy[/name_f]”.
I agree that any name ending in -elle or -ella could fit you needs. My favorite -ella name is [name_f]Rosella[/name_f].
What about [name_f]Melody[/name_f]? [name_f]Elody[/name_f] or [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] would be cute nickname.
Or [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]. [name_f]Etta[/name_f] for short.
If you want to go the more unique route, I’d also like to suggest [name_f]September[/name_f], [name_u]Ember[/name_u] for short.
