Hubby really wants to use his grandfather’s name as a middle name if we ever have a baby boy. His grandfather’s name was [name_m]Hubert[/name_m]… which I just can’t imagine using for our child. I definitely still want to honour this name but I’m having trouble finding alternatives to [name_m]Hubert[/name_m]. Any suggestions?! I’ve suggested [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] but hubby isn’t a fan (I think it’s super cute though!)
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is the best and cutest choice, [name_f]IMO[/name_f] so keep working him for that one [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] is my second favorite.
Other suggestions:
[name_m]Hobart[/name_m]
[name_u]Bert[/name_u]
[name_m]Hubie[/name_m]
[name_m]Huberto[/name_m]
[name_m]Hulbert[/name_m]
[name_m]Hobard[/name_m]
[name_m]Hubbard[/name_m]
[name_m]Huber[/name_m]
More of a stretch:
[name_m]Albert[/name_m] - sounds a lot like [name_m]Hubert[/name_m] and has the same meaning ("[name_u]Bright[/name_u]")
[name_m]Bertram[/name_m]
[name_m]Robert[/name_m]
[name_m]Egbert[/name_m]
Eubert
Depending on the first name you chose, one of the others might work nicely; but I really like [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] best! What do you think? Good luck
I believe when honoring a family member by using their name, using their name and not an alternative is precisely the point. It’s just a middle name after all.
