For a boy
First name [name_u]Gus[/name_u]
middle name [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] ?
For a girl
First name [name_f]Emma[/name_f]
middle name [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] ?
Or
First name ?
Middle name [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
I actually prefer the name [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Gus[/name_u] instead of [name_u]Gus[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m].
I think [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is fine on it’s own. :]
I like [name_u]Gus[/name_u] as a nickname, but I’m not sure for what. Haha! [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is a nice middle name, though. I wouldn’t use it as a first name myself because I don’t care of [name_u]Alex[/name_u] as a nickname, but I known would probably fall into the habit of using it.
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is lovely. I don’t think it needs another name. I’m not a big fan of the double middle name trend, personally.
Thank you! [name_m]Just[/name_m] another thought what about [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] as a first name then [name_f]Emma[/name_f] then ? Really appreciate your options!!!
What sort of syllable count and emphasis do you like best?
3-2-1 is very nice
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
I don’t think I like 3-1-2 as much:
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Emma[/name_f]
3-1-2 with the evenness of [name_f]Emma[/name_f] doesn’t work for me
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Emma[/name_f]
Whereas 3-1-2 with a different syllable emphasis flows…but you want [name_f]Emma[/name_f].
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Adele[/name_f]
3-4-2 isn’t as nice, but works
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Emma[/name_f]
3-2-3 probably also depends on emphasis. This doesn’t flow to me:
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
3-3-2 is also tricky…
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Emma[/name_f]
3-2-2 works all right as long as the syllable emphasis differs
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Corinne[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
I’m less fond of the reverse-emphasis, like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Emma[/name_f].
Wow so many great options. Thank you What are your thoughts on a first name if keeping [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] as the middle name?
For the boy I would use [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] or [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and use the nn [name_u]Gus[/name_u]. It flows better and looks nicer.
For the girl, [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is beautiful. I just love the name [name_f]Emma[/name_f]!
Thanks for the options. I have an issue that I need help with and thought maybe I could figure it out myself but I can’t! We named our beautiful 26 month old daughter [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and two people have recently pointed out that her initials with our surname ( which is two words beginning with a v and then L ) spell EVL. We didn’t even think of that at the time and now I feel sick about it and want to fix it somehow. Most of the people I have mentioned it to say don’t worry kids are going to get teased no matter what you call them but I can’t accept that at the moment! Maybe I just need to? Anyway I’ve only just discovered this website and have been very impressed with the level of thought and discussion about naming a precious child!
So the way i see it now My options are
[name_m]Just[/name_m] leave it and hope for the best (!) not really an option but may be one I have to accept? Or
Give her another first name and we can be one of this families that call our child by their second name (which was never my intention but she knows her name is [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and I can’t imagine changing it on her!)
Or
Somehow incorporate another first name that [name_f]Emma[/name_f] could be a nickname of so we can say something like oh her name is [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] but we call her [name_f]Emma[/name_f] ( I would prefer to keep [name_f]Emma[/name_f] as part of her name tho!) so was ALSO thinking is their a first name that would sound good with [name_f]Emma[/name_f] as the second so you could call out something like ‘lily [name_f]Emma[/name_f]’ But keep [name_f]Emma[/name_f] as a second name still? (We know lots of [name_f]Lily[/name_f]'s tho so that is not an option just an example)
Or switch her name around to be [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Emma[/name_f] ? She does get called little [name_u]Josie[/name_u] a lot as she looks exactly like my late mother ([name_f]Josephine[/name_f]) but my husband really doesn’t want her to be called that as he wants he to have her own identity which is ironic as after all the research we have her one of the most popular names going around !
We named her [name_f]Emma[/name_f] as we like classic names and its my husbands favourite girls name plus we only know two other people who are called emma and they are in their 30’s so we didn’t think it was that popular ( huh?!) And it sounded beautiful with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] as a second name. Anyway I’m typing this on my phone so I apologise for any errors and if it doesn’t make sense in parts. I really need to sort it as it is on my mind constantly. Their is part of me that cannot imagine changing it at all but then there is another part of me that thinks she is only two and I have an opportunity to fix a potential problem now before she starts her schooling life and her work life where she potentially has to write her initials as evl. I know she could write her initials as EJVL but seriously how many people include the middle initial? Thanks for listening. should I put this as a new thread? Not really sure how it all works
