Help with unique names

Hello,

Right now our top girl name is [name]Harper[/name] [name]Elliana[/name]. We both like it but I want to be sure. I have been looking for unique girl names everywhere but I haven’t found another name that we both like. Maybe I won’t find another name and I will know the [name]Harper[/name] is the right choice, but please help me out by sharing any name ideas. I like names that are unisex and/or unique. For example, I really like the names [name]Olive[/name] and Karios but those are names of friends’ kids. I also like [name]Esme[/name] but my husband is not sold on that one. (I had a nice long list of unique boy names that we liked but hardly any girl names and now we know we are having a girl.)

Also, could you please include pronunciation if needed.

Thank you!!

hmmm here’s some ideas…

Good [name]Luck[/name]!

I’m sort of hesistant to write this because if you love and have pretty much settled on [name]Harper[/name], I don’t want to sway you. I think [name]Harper[/name] is a great name. It’s on my short list. But if “unique” is what you are looking for, I think you might be sorely disappointed when you run into another baby [name]Harper[/name].

I feel like I see [name]Harper[/name] popping up constantly on this and other baby name boards. I think it’s due to keep rising in popularity. I think it might have something to do with [name]Nichole[/name] [name]Richie[/name]'s harlow or something, but it’s definitely thrown around all the time now whereas I never saw it three years ago when we searched for a name for our first daughter. I’m not saying it’s going to be [name]Emma[/name], but I think it will break into top 100 very soon and quite possibly go further from there.

Also, some others you mentioned, I see [name]Esme[/name] all the time as well. I think this bc of Twilight as well as JLo’s twin.

And [name]Olive[/name] may not be as popular as [name]Olivia[/name], but it’s so close that i think it just gets lumped in with the gaggle of [name]Olivia[/name]'s and no one will ever say, oh, [name]Olive[/name], how unique? [name]How[/name] did you ever think of that?

Now, I’m not saying that unique is such a great thing. To me, unique means the only one. obviously, you can’t really be the only one, but I think if you choose a beautiful and recognized name, other people are bound to love and recognize it too, so the lack of uniqueness is not a big thing.

I understand the desire not to have a common name and be olivia last initial, but I think you can aim to avoid that without being unique and making up a name for the first time or choosing a name that is so horrid no one else wants it.

I don’t think [name]Harper[/name] will be the next [name]Madison[/name], but I do think the name has a ways to go in popularity. [name]Just[/name] a warning if you are looking to be unique.

AGREED! I love, love, love the name [name]Harper[/name], and had [name]Harper[/name] [name]Naomi[/name] as our number one, but am very hesitant because of it’s rise in popularity. It is a FANTASTIC name and you should totally go for it if you don’t mind the fact that it will probably be creeping up the charts! I think it is, in part, due to [name]Neil[/name] [name]Patrick[/name] [name]Harris[/name] naming one of his twins [name]Harper[/name] [name]Grace[/name].

All the best!
