I’ve been trying to think what I would name a daughter or two…and I’m afraid when I get to that point I am going to have no idea what to do. I love boy names. It would be hard for me to pick a sons name because I have so many I love, [name]Nolan[/name], [name]Liam[/name], [name]Grant[/name], [name]Everett[/name], [name]Gavin[/name], [name]Graham[/name], [name]Holden[/name], [name]Leo[/name], etc etc. For girls I have the opposite problem…I barely like any girl names >:( I’ve never really found girl names that I just fell in love with.
I like the name [name]Leighton[/name] (lay-ton) and I like the name [name]Eliza[/name] a lot. Those names don’t really go together. I’m not sure [name]Leighton[/name] looks good with my last name.
Other names I like are [name]Ellary[/name], [name]Lily[/name], [name]Lila[/name], and [name]Harper[/name]. If it were up to me I’d probably go with [name]Harper[/name] and [name]Leighton[/name], but husband doesn’t like [name]Harper[/name]. He likes [name]Lily[/name], [name]Lila[/name], and [name]Leighton[/name]. He also has suggested [name]Easton[/name] for a girl, which I like but sounds terrible with our LN.
Please help.
If you both like [name]Leighton[/name], I would do it unless it really sounds bad with your ln. It’s not my fav, as I prefer [name]Layton[/name] for a boy, but you have to do what YOU like! I adore [name]Eliza[/name], and it’s by far my fav of yours.
Maybe I’m odd, but I really like the look of [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Leighton[/name] as a first/middle, as well as [name]Lila[/name] [name]Harper[/name]. Any chance that your husband would go for [name]Harper[/name] in the middle (in any case)?
Using the boy names that you mentioned as well as the girls, how about the following for inspiration:
[name]Delilah[/name]
[name]Lyra[/name]
[name]Elissa[/name] (mythological name)
[name]Emilie[/name] / [name]Emilia[/name]
[name]Arden[/name]
[name]Ilaria[/name] (Italian name)
[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Lana[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Hadley[/name]
@teacherma: I love those pairings you made!
I do like those combinations, but two sisters [name]Lila[/name] and [name]Eliza[/name], would those sound too matchy?
I like pp’s suggestion of [name]Lyra[/name].
[name]Ayla[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Mika[/name]
[name]Nova[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Fern[/name]
[name]Colette[/name]
[name]Kaia[/name] / [name]Kya[/name]
[name]Man[/name], I knew I forgot to look at something. I guess they are a little matchy. But, honestly, I don’t think matchiness matters much to non-berries/non-name nerds. They are both very nice names. Maybe a longer form that leads to [name]Lila[/name]/[name]Lily[/name] could that the LI- shared by [name]Eliza[/name] and [name]Lila[/name]. Perhaps:
[name]Delilah[/name] [name]Harper[/name] Surname
[name]Lillian[/name] [name]Harper[/name] Surname
[name]Liliana[/name] [name]Harper[/name] Surname
[name]Liliane[/name] [name]Harper[/name] Surname
[name]Lilac[/name] [name]Harper[/name] Surname
[name]Lilibet[/name] [name]Harper[/name] Surname
I like [name]Delilah[/name] but again I feel like I like it just because it is similar to [name]Eliza[/name]. [name]Lillian[/name] isn’t a name I really like, I do like [name]Lily[/name] though, I just don’t know if its too common…does anyone have any suggestions similar in style to [name]Leighton[/name]?
[name]Lyra[/name]-[name]Don[/name]'t like
[name]Ayla[/name]-I like it okay, it feels made up to me
[name]Willa[/name]-I really do like [name]Willa[/name] and [name]Willow[/name]. Especially since my mothers maiden name is [name]Willoughby[/name]
[name]Mika[/name]-how is this pronounced?
[name]Nova[/name]-I do somewhat like this, but I want to name a son [name]Nolan[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name]-not my style
[name]Fern[/name]-not my style
[name]Colette[/name]-agh def not
[name]Kaia[/name] / [name]Kya[/name]-it’s okay
[name]Mika[/name] is Mee-ka. [name]Micah[/name] is My-kah, which is a boy’s name but seeing as you have [name]Leighton[/name] for a girl which is traditionally masculine it probably wouldn’t matter. [name]Micah[/name] and [name]Leighton[/name] would be a nice sibset.
[name]Micah[/name] is a name I’ve considered for a girl, but I decided it is too masculine. I do like unisex names but not so much boy on girl names. A name has to sound feminine and I’ll use to, regardless of gender. For example I love [name]Ellery[/name]…but I wouldn’t be one to use say [name]Jordan[/name] or [name]Alex[/name] on a girl
