My husband’s mother ([name]Bernadette[/name]) and 7 year old brother ([name]Quinn[/name]) were killed in a car accident 10 years ago. I want to somehow incorporate one or both of their names in our first child, our unborn daughter’s first and/or middle names. This would be Bernadette’s first grandchild and we want to pay tribute to her somehow. I like the idea of using [name]Quinn[/name] as our daughter’s middle name, but I am open to suggestions.
I think [name]Quinn[/name] or [name]Bernadette[/name] will work with almost any name. I especially like [name]Juliette[/name] [name]Quinn[/name] or [name]Reese[/name] [name]Bernadette[/name]. I do think [name]Avery[/name] [name]Quinn[/name] is too masculine.
I love [name]Quinn[/name] for a girl so it seems perfect to me.
[name]How[/name] about [name]Etta[/name] or [name]Henrietta[/name] to incorporate [name]Bernadette[/name]'s name?
Or you could use a “B” as the first name letter to honor her.
From your list, I love ALL the names! You have great taste! I like [name]Avery[/name] [name]Quinn[/name] a lot and [name]Juliette[/name] is gorgeous although I prefer the [name]Juliet[/name] spelling.
[name]Do[/name] you like [name]Adeline[/name]/[name]Adelaide[/name]?
Some suggestions:
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]
Adeleine [name]Blair[/name]
[name]Reese[/name] [name]Emerson[/name]
That is very sweet and touching, that you wish to honor your deceased mother-in-law and little brother-in-law in such a way. [name]Adeline[/name] [name]Quinn[/name] is beautiful-- would you like to keep searching for ways to commemorate both in your first child’s name, or would you like to save one for a future child?
If both:
[name]Bernadette[/name] is the obvious feminization of the old name [name]Bernard[/name], which is of [name]German[/name] origin. It meant “strong, brave bear” or something like it. The most famous bearer was St [name]Bernard[/name] of Clairvaux-- so you get [name]Claire[/name] and any of its variants. St [name]Bernadette[/name] saw her famous visions at [name]Lourdes[/name], so you can use that as well.
You can select a name beginning with B (not sure of your style-- have included a mix of classic and modern):
[name]Beatrix[/name]/ [name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Bettina[/name]
[name]Bianca[/name]
[name]Berkeley[/name]
[name]Brianna[/name] (might mean “strong,” similar to [name]Bernadette[/name])
[name]Brighton[/name]
[name]Bryony[/name]
[name]Burnett[/name] (a surname probably derived from [name]Bernard[/name])
Or go off of the “brave” or “bear” meaning-- though these will be more of a stretch to the casual observer–
[name]Callista[/name] (a nymph who turned into a bear in Greek mythology)
[name]Ursula[/name]
[name]Millicent[/name] (nn [name]Millie[/name])
[name]Valora[/name]
[name]Adira[/name]
[name]Kyra[/name]
