I’m needing some help. On another site, I posted my top three, [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. Most comments were very nice, but I specifically asked for nothing rude, and no comments saying that the names are ugly, because, I wasn’t asking what they thought, I asked what flowed the best. However, needless to say, 1 started attacking, and the 2nd is the one that bothered me the most.
‘I have to agree, those names are all really ugly, and truth is people are going to think that even if they don’t say it… and your child will have to live with that her whole life.’
Are [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] really THAT terrible that, if I had a child, they’d be stuck with a horrible name all their life? If so, I need help finding new names
I always thought my name was horribly ugly growing up ([name_f]Audrey[/name_f]). Other people probably thought it was a strange name for a little girl at a time when there were a lot of little [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]'s and Heathers running around. Nowadays, [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] has a more positive vibe. Name trends do change! Those choices that you’ve given don’t seem that outlandish to me. But, some people are hopelessly lacking in imagination, lol.
You have to take it for granted that there are some horribly rotten people out there who take full advantage of the Internet to anonymously spew the most vile personal attacks. The best advice I can give you is the old advice, “don’t feed the trolls”, just ignore them as much as you can and don’t respond to them. [name_m]Just[/name_m] respond to the posters who are interested in a decent discussion… the others honestly aren’t worth your time.
I’m sorry, but these people are idiots. These names, each one, are beautiful! [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], and [name_f]Esther[/name_f] are all names that I would love to have myself.
Wow, it still at time surprises me how rude people can be. I guess some people have never heard of- if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all. I’ll never get it. They chose to respond to your post it’s not like you forced them to. Anyway, with that said you’re never going to please everyone. I have an aunt that said to me - after my son was born and almost a year old " Oh well you know that’s an ugly name and he’s going to get picked on". I was really annoyed yet her sons name to me is ugly. It’s common and there was no creativity when coming up with his name.
The name you choose has to be something you love. I really like the first two the best. Please don’t be discouraged by some random person. If you’ve liked them up to this point go with one of them. Good luck!
Those are honestly all names I love. And I dont think your child would be scarred for life if you chose them. There are names I don’t like…fir example [name_f]Agatha[/name_f]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I dont like it, I know a kid won’t be scarred forever if its used.
I think they’re perfectly fine names. [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] is my favorite, lovely. I don’t love [name_f]Esther[/name_f] pronounced the more common way of esth-er but I REALLY like how a [name_m]German[/name_m] coworker (with irish accent, so not sure if it is [name_m]German[/name_m] or an Irish thing lol!) said her name, ‘es-ter’. I think that pronunciation is sleeker and fresh sounding.
Agreed don’t feed the trolls! [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] names.
Those are perfectly lovely names. They apparently just weren’t to that particular poster’s liking.
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] is definitely my favorite. I have a hard time seeing [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_f]Esther[/name_f] on a little girl but I don’t think they are bad names-- I just have a mental block with regard to picturing certain names I’ve never heard on little kids.
Ahh, I truly love all of these names. I would actually [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] to be called [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] or [name_f]Esther[/name_f]! Best of luck!
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f], [name_f]Esther[/name_f], and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] are all beautiful names! [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t be discouraged over someone who seems to lack imagination.
I think they are all lovely names, and if you’re still interested I think [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] flows the best followed by [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] and then [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f].
I’d gladly name a kid [name_f]Iris[/name_f], and [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] is one of my favorites on the middle-name-potentials list. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Esther[/name_f], but I don’t think it’s hideous, and I don’t think it’d scar a kid. Of the middles, I adore [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], enjoy [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], and don’t mind [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] but love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]/[name_f]Elinor[/name_f].
Keep your chin up, love. There’s nothing wrong with you. But for some reason, the culture of the internet is that if it’s public it’s fair game for tearing apart. It’s sad and a bit sick, but that’s why we must keep our darlings (names, photos, ideas) close except in trusted company.
Thank you everyone I think I just needed some words of encouragement! I’m still a bit torn on which name is my absolute favourite, but I am leaning more towards [name_f]Esther[/name_f], because it matches my other favourites the best
