Help,

Hello Berries!

Hubby and I still have not agreed on a name and I need some more input. Wondering if we have already found “the” name and just don’t know it yet! For back ground- I’m white American and DH is Mexican.

Hubby’s list:
[name_f]Constance[/name_f]- I like it but not in love, would be willing to use it as a middle name.

[name_f]Lilith[/name_f]- hard no for me. Although I do think the name is pretty but I can not get pass the background of the name.

[name_u]Raven[/name_u]- like it but not in love

[name_f]Iris[/name_f]- only name we can somewhat agree on. I love that it means rainbow and this is our rainbow baby.

My list:
[name_f]Araminta[/name_f]- this has been my favorite name for years and I love all the nicknames you can get from it. One of the meanings I’ve seen is defender and my sons name is defender of men, love that subtle connection. Problem is it just doesn’t feel quite right. But I am worried if I don’t use it I’ll regret it. Hubby isn’t a huge fan but he has not vetoed it.

[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]- you guys suggested this name on my previous post and I love it but sadly DH hates it.

[name_f]Rose[/name_f] or any variation of [name_f]Rose[/name_f]- it’s a 7th generation family tradition on my moms side to name the first born girl [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. Either as a first name or middle name and any variant of [name_f]Rose[/name_f], most people just do [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as a middle name but we also have [name_f]Rosina[/name_f] (the first [name_f]Rose[/name_f] that the tradition started from), [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f], Lokelani(means heavenly [name_f]Rose[/name_f] in Hawaiian). I was uncertain if I wanted to keep with the tradition or not but have decided to use [name_f]Rose[/name_f] somewhere in the name.

[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f]- love it and love the nn [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] that it means [name_f]Emerald[/name_f] and thats my DH birthstone and was also one of our colors in our wedding, may also be her birthstone if she comes early. DH thinks it sounds too Mexican…

[name_f]Idalia[/name_f]- newer name crush but DH vetoed

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]/ [name_f]Josephina[/name_f]- I love it and would seriously consider it but I hate the pronunciation in Spanish.

I’m just feeling super lost. Nothing is feeling quite right and I feel like I’ve already seen all the names. For the past couple weeks I’ve not thought about names hoping something will eventually click but still feeling lost and getting stressed as the due date nears. Unsure if we should scrap both our list and start fresh or if we already have THE name. Thoughts and input are greatly appreciated!

My suggestion would be to have both of you write a long list each of all of the names you love, or like without the others input (add notes as to why you love them too, if you like). Then, swap lists, spend some time thinking them all over, and each cross out all of those names you dislike/cannot imagine on your child (again, without any of the others input). Finally, take the names left on each list and rewrite it to create your master list. I believe it is important for both parents to be on board with the name equally, and either both love the name, or combine each of their favourites to make the final combo.

It sounds to me like [name_f]Iris[/name_f] & [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] are the only two you can both (somewhat) agree on, so I’d say these two are your best options. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f], or [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] are both wonderful combos. They are both beautiful names. [name_f]Rose[/name_f], for the namesake, is worth fleshing out more too. [name_m]How[/name_m] does your hubby feel about [name_f]Rose[/name_f]? Does he like any variants of it that you might also like? Personally, I prefer [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as a first name, as it is so much fresher upfront (it’s become such an expected filler middle name that it looses so much of it’s lustre hiding in there). [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] would be gorgeous.

Also, have you considered the possibility of using two middle names, one being your important [name_f]Rose[/name_f]? [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] would be just gorgeous, fit beautifully with her brothers name, and gets your favourite and his favourite + the family name all in one name? Sounds pretty perfect to me…

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f]’s suggestion of [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. It’s just beautiful and uses names you both love and in the case of [name_f]Rose[/name_f], a name with significance. I also think [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] would be beautiful if you wanted to continue the [name_f]Rose[/name_f] tradition but not actually use [name_f]Rose[/name_f].

As for [name_f]Rose[/name_f], I love that idea. [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], Rosabel, [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] sound great to me! [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] is my favorite though! I second the suggestion of [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] sounds gorgeous!
What about [name_f]Dalia[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Idalia[/name_f]? Would you DH be more likely to go for this?

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f], [name_f]Annabella[/name_f] or [name_f]Analia[/name_f] – kind of similar to [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] and your husband might go for these. [name_f]Analia[/name_f] also has a latino background and is a beautiful but uncommon name
[name_f]Ines[/name_f] --similar to [name_f]Iris[/name_f] since you aren’t sure on [name_f]Iris[/name_f] (I personally prefer [name_f]Ines[/name_f] although both are pretty)
[name_f]Carlotta[/name_f] – I love this name!
[name_f]Layla[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] – Similar to [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] although it is less out there so your husband may like it more
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] – Same as above
[name_f]Mariela[/name_f]
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] or [name_f]Serafina[/name_f] – Similar to [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]/[name_f]Josefina[/name_f] although I think this name is more distinctive and sounds beautiful in both languages!
[name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] – love this esp w nickname [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]
[name_f]Elaina[/name_f] – Similar to [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] but more familiar
[name_f]Lula[/name_f]

[name_m]Alistair[/name_m] [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] & [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] “[name_f]Indie[/name_f]” “[name_f]Rose[/name_f]” “[name_f]Roz[/name_f]” would make an incredible sibset

Other ideas

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] ([name_f]Beloved[/name_f]) [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]
[name_f]Carys[/name_f] (Loved) [name_f]Roisin[/name_f]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]

The first name to come to mind is [name_f]Esme[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f]. It has the same meaning and I absolutely love it for you. Maybe [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] or [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], and I love pp’s suggestion of [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f].

Some [name_f]Rose[/name_f] options: [name_f]Rosaelia[/name_f] ([name_f]Rose[/name_f]-AY-lia) or [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]. Some green options: [name_f]Livia[/name_f] or [name_f]Esme[/name_f] or [name_f]Jade[/name_f]. [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] reminds me of [name_f]Amarantha[/name_f]. It has the same feeling as [name_f]Lilith[/name_f], but a much more pleasant meaning.

[name_f]Iris[/name_f] feels like a good choice -[name_f]Araminta[/name_f] too if your DH agrees to it

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]

[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] really seems like THE name to me. What are your thoughts on it?

I really like [name_f]Esme[/name_f]/[name_f]Esmae[/name_f]. I also like the suggestion of [name_f]Imelda[/name_f]

I bolded the ones that I though you and your hubby might like!

Thanks berries so much for your input and suggestions!

Talked to my hubby and looks like [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is in the forefront! We are gonna mull over the combo for the next week or so to see how it feels. I’m surprised he liked it since he doesn’t like middles names and this has 2!

I think the name is lovely and I feel like [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] make an awesome sibset. I’m loving that it means rainbow and I think of seeing the rainbow after the storm. Right now with the world being so crazy and with everything going on with covid 19, I just think of this little baby as our calm after the storm. Not that everything is gonna be perfect but that she’ll keep us grounded and focused on the little moments. If that makes sense.

[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is beautiful!!

What about [name_f]Esme[/name_f] on it’s one? Does your husband object to that? [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] sounds lovely to me!
