Henrietta or Tabitha?????

We are expecting baby #2! I have been thinking about names for baby #2 since baby #1 was born. Our top two choices for a girl are [name]Henrietta[/name] nn [name]Etta[/name] and [name]Tabitha[/name] nn [name]Tibby[/name]. I am head over heels in love with the name [name]Henrietta[/name]. I think it is the perfect name- sweet, spunky, great nicknames, cute on a toddler but sophisticated enough for an adult. The problem is i get only negative feedback when I mention it (except on nameberry, of course). Because of this I’m unsure about using it.

My husband’s favorite is [name]Tabitha[/name]. I do really love [name]Tabitha[/name] too. It’s spunky and will age well. And friends and family will be more approving of it. It’s just not [name]Henrietta[/name].

Should we just use [name]Tabitha[/name] and avoid the negative feedback? Is [name]Henrietta[/name] really usable in the real world? I need advice!!!

I personally would go with [name]Tabitha[/name]. Only because to me [name]Henrietta[/name] is an “old lady” name to me. But if you love [name]Henrietta[/name] so much I would say so for it!
Some suggestions:
Maisilee nn [name]Maisie[/name]
[name]Delaney[/name] nn [name]Delly[/name]
[name]Paloma[/name] nn Palo

Good [name]Luck[/name] and I hope I helped

I prefer [name]Tabitha[/name], but [name]Henrietta[/name] could work. Especially with nn [name]Etta[/name] and also [name]Hattie[/name] and [name]Hatsy[/name] which are trending up, it has room to work and get more positive feedback at least on the names (and at a certain point, I wouldn’t over worry about feedback). I also think they’re good sister names : D.

I prefer [name]Henrietta[/name], but if [name]Tabitha[/name] is the favorite and helps you avoid drama, Go for it! Go with your heart

Between the two I prefer [name]Henrietta[/name]. There are so many cute trendy nn, [name]Ria[/name], [name]Rita[/name], [name]Ernie[/name], etc. [name]Etta[/name], being my fav. Go for what you love, once your friends and family can hold your baby girl in their arms her name will be a perfect fit and they couldn’t imagine her with any other.

I love [name]Tabitha[/name]. I think it is spunky but not caught in the little-forever timewarp.

So I’m biased, [name]Henrietta[/name] is fine, but to me it’s no [name]Tabitha[/name].

Personally, I’ve always disliked [name]Tabitha[/name]. The only [name]Tabitha[/name] (her nn was [name]Tabby[/name]) I’ve known in the real world was terrible. It also reminds me of the daughter on Bewitched, which is neither good or bad, but I think a lot of people might make that association. Also, I don’t agree that [name]Tibby[/name] ages well. First, it sounds like Tibia and second, it has kind of a juvenile feel to it.

On the other hand, I love [name]Henrietta[/name]. It’s really lovely and underused. [name]Etta[/name] and [name]Hattie[/name] are beautiful, spunky, down to earth nicknames that will always be age appropriate.

I would narrow it down by which nickname I like more. In my case, I’d choose [name]Tabitha[/name] nn [name]Tabby[/name].

I like [name]Henrietta[/name] better. I [name]LOVE[/name] the nn [name]Etta[/name]. [name]Tabitha[/name] is really old ladyish but [name]Henrietta[/name] sounds like cool granny chic. I think [name]Henrietta[/name] is ready for a comeback.

I love [name]Henrietta[/name] way more then [name]Tabitha[/name] and would go with that. Maybe you could have both and choose when you see her?

The way we would decide in my family is: whoever got more say in baby number ones name will have a little less say second time around. For example with our son we had 2 names we both likes each name but my husband preferred one name over the other. I let him choose. So when my daughter was born we had 2 names we both lived and he let me choose the one I liked slightly more. I prefer the full name [name]Tabitha[/name] and the nn [name]Tibby[/name].

I like them both! I have thought of [name]Henriette[/name], since I just prefer the tidier ending. It takes off one syllable, too, which makes it less of a mouthful, therefore less “out there” to some people, maybe. You could still use “[name]Etta[/name]” if you wanted. But [name]Tabitha[/name] is great, too! You just have to decide for yourselves which name you love more and not worry about what others think.
