My DH and I really can’t decide which one we like the best, our favourites change daily. So opinions would be appreciated. We aren’t bothered by popularity so that’s not an issue and are from the UK if that makes a difference.
[name_m]How[/name_m] do you picture children/men with these names? [name_f]Do[/name_f] they sound strong, smart?
Middle name will be [name_u]Ridley[/name_u] or possibly [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] [name_u]Ridley[/name_u] if it sounds better with two middle names. Surname is one syllable.
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] is my favorite followed by [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is lovely but I hate that everyone always shortens it to [name_u]Alex[/name_u].
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_u]Ridley[/name_u] flows the imo.
I adore all three names! But [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] does not flow well with either mn, imo.
Both [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_u]Ridley[/name_u] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] [name_u]Ridley[/name_u] sound great…I am leaning slightly in favor of [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_u]Ridley[/name_u].
All solid choices, but I like [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] the best. Second choice would be [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_u]Ridley[/name_u] sounds the best to me!
I’m torn between [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] as the 2 standouts for me. I’m not so keen on [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]. For [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] it depends on what short form he’ll get. If [name_u]Alex[/name_u], then I’d go with [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. If [name_m]Alec[/name_m], [name_u]Lex[/name_u] or [name_m]Xander[/name_m], then I’d choose [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. But feel you can’t go wrong with either [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] or [name_m]Henry[/name_m].
My order of preference is
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
All three sound strong and smart, so no worries there.
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_u]Ridley[/name_u] and [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Ridley[/name_u] are both handsome. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] [name_u]Ridley[/name_u] is cute, but a lot of R.
Thanks for the replies.
We would shorten [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] to [name_m]Xander[/name_m] (although I prefer the name in all it’s glory) and the same with [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]. Occasionally [name_m]Seb[/name_m], but would use [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] most of the time. I love [name_m]Henry[/name_m], but I worry because although a classic, it’s quite newly popular in the U.K. But a huge positive is there is no worry about nicknames we don’t like and I find it so sweet on a boy.
I agree there are better flowing middle names, but [name_u]Ridley[/name_u] is a family name so flow isn’t the be all and end all. I just don’t want to regret our decision on his name!
I like [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Ridley[/name_u] the best, especially with the occasional nn of [name_m]Xander[/name_m] to spice it up sometimes and [name_u]Ridley[/name_u] makes it feel very modern of cool.
My nephew is named [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] and they use the nn of [name_m]Baz[/name_m] - it’s kind of cute.
I vote for [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] [name_u]Ridley[/name_u]. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] are two of the strongest male names out there, for me.
so from your username i am guessing your last name might be bell. in that case please don’t choose alexander, thats the guy who invented the telephone. you can’t pick henry ridley because, they rhyme. so I choose sebastian ridley bell. but all around i like rupert better than ridley for the middle name. my vote is henry rupert bell. if thats not your last name, sorry.
