We have officially narrowed it down to [name]Henry[/name], [name]Reilly[/name], or [name]Declan[/name] for our little man. One of the middle names will be [name]Matthew[/name] and DH is rooting for [name]Dean[/name] as the 2nd middle name.
I really like the name [name]Reilly[/name]-this is the most masculine spelling imo. Have loved this name for a boy since I was 12. Unfortunately the girls stole it before I could use it myself.
[name]Henry[/name]-Classic and timeless. I do agree that its popular, but its been fairly consistent in its popularity for the last 100 years or so.
[name]Declan[/name]-[name]Love[/name] this name. Doesn’t work with all last names, not sure what yours is but you might want to keep that in mind.
I love [name]Declan[/name]!!! [name]Declan[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] [name]Dean[/name] or [name]Declan[/name] [name]Dean[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] both work well in my opinion.
Honestly, all three of these have been on my list at one time or another.
[name]Henry[/name] - It’s classic and regal. I mean, [name]Prince[/name] [name]Harry[/name] has this name. I’ve met one [name]Henry[/name] and he’s two. I had this on my list but my grandma ruined it for me when she called it out like the woman from [name]Charlotte[/name]'s [name]Web[/name]. “[name]Hen[/name]-REEEEEEEEEE!” I love the nickname [name]Harry[/name].
[name]Reilly[/name] - I applaud you for using the original spelling. I’m so happy someone actually remembers that once upon a time, it was spelled like this. However, every other kid has this name. No one, sadly, will know it’s spelled this way and will spell it [name]Riley[/name], [name]Rylee[/name], Rileigh, etc. It’s really handsome on a boy, though.
[name]Declan[/name] - I fell in love with this name about 5+ years ago. Since then, it’s become a lot more popular, along with every other Irish name. I do think it’s falling instead of rising or at least slowing down. I’ve never met a [name]Declan[/name], big or small. [name]Dex[/name] is a cute nn.
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] [name]Dean[/name] or [name]Declan[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] [name]Dean[/name]. Hmmm…Decisions, decisions… [name]Henry[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] or [name]Declan[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] …
[name]Declan[/name]. Handsome, modern but historic. Go for it.
[name]Declan[/name] is my absolute favorite boy name! I love [name]Declan[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] [name]Dean[/name]. I also like [name]Henry[/name]! I don’t love [name]Reilly[/name], sorry.
[name]Reilly[/name] is okay but unfortunately the [name]Riley[/name]/[name]Ryleigh[/name]/[name]Rylee[/name] monolith brings it down. [name]Matthew[/name] [name]Reilly[/name] is my favourite author I love how it sounds in that combination, possibly as two middle names.
[name]Henry[/name] is timeless and not toooo popular.
[name]Declan[/name] I oscillate between loving and loathing. At the moment I’m loving it, but it is quite trendy.
My bet would be [name]Henry[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] [name]Dean[/name]! I love that name… and I’d save [name]Reilly[/name] for a possible sib set
[name]Reilly[/name] - unfortunately with [name]Riley[/name] almost in the top 100 for boys and, even worse, at number 38 for girls, I think this is becoming unusable. I think this spelling it lovely so it’s a real shame but other than on paper, your [name]Reilly[/name] would seem the same as the female Rileys that will inevitably be in his school!
[name]Henry[/name] is a gorgeous gorgeous name but is very popular at the moment. Does this bother you? Have you considered [name]Harry[/name] like [name]Prince[/name] [name]Harry[/name]? This is a lot less common!
[name]Declan[/name] - I would definitely choose this of the 3 names you have. Dec is a cute nn and reminds me of British TV presenters Ant and Dec ([name]Declan[/name] [name]Donnelly[/name]) and it’s not even in the top 300 yet so you should be fairly safe!
[name]Declan[/name] [name]Dean[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] or [name]Declan[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] [name]Dean[/name] could both work
I’ve never been a huge fan of [name]Reilly[/name], I’m afraid - but I absolutely love [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Declan[/name]!
[name]Henry[/name] has a beautifully regal feel to it and is quite a timeless name, and of course it has the adorable nickname [name]Harry[/name].
I don’t know how popular [name]Declan[/name] is where you live, but here in [name]Ireland[/name] it’s nowhere near as common as it used to be - in actual fact, I think I’ve only ever met one [name]Declan[/name] in my life. It has the suggested meaning of “full of goodness”, which is just a lovely thing to name your child, in my opinion. It also has a very masculine sound to it.
(And can I just say how much I love [name]Matthew[/name] and [name]Dean[/name]? Great choice of middle names!)
So, I’m torn between [name]Henry[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] [name]Dean[/name] or [name]Declan[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] [name]Dean[/name]… I’d say that [name]Henry[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] [name]Dean[/name] has the best flow, but [name]Declan[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] [name]Dean[/name] sounds great too!
Definitely [name]Declan[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] [name]Dean[/name]. My second choice is [name]Henry[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] [name]Dean[/name]. Nice handsome names!
[name]Henry[/name] is absolutely adorable. It’s timeless.
[name]Reilly[/name] is super trendy. I have 3 friends with Reillys.
[name]Declan[/name], I personally don’t like it. lol.
[name]Henry[/name] and [name]Declan[/name] are both names I have always loved. My son is [name]Henry[/name], so I am a bit prejudiced for that name. We always are complimented on it and despite it’s “popularity” I haven’t met one other [name]Henry[/name] yet. I have met one [name]Hank[/name] though. We are firmly trying to put our foot down that it is [name]Henry[/name] with no nickname.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Declan[/name] too! We don’t have an Irish surname, so that was one of the reasons we didn’t go for it. Our surname is purely English.
I love [name]Reilly[/name] for a boy and know the sweetest boy named [name]Reilly[/name] with this spelling, but sadly it is being taken over by the girls with the [name]Riley[/name] spelling, which would make me take it off my list.
