Herbert?

Thoughts on [name_m]Herbert[/name_m]? Is it too old-fashioned? Would it work well with [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Frances[/name_f]?

[name_m]Herbert[/name_m] does feel dated to me, but it looks like it’s having a bit of a comeback! It’s in the UK top 800 I’m pretty sure, so people are definitely using it. The cute [name_u]Bertie[/name_u] could give it some more energy and make it more youthful. I think it works with [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Frances[/name_f]

Are you wanting to use it on a boy, because in that case I think it works but you are in the wrong thread.

It feels very dated to me, though I like it with [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Frances[/name_f]!

Ive moved this to the boys threads

Herbert is cute! I knew a [name_m]Herbie[/name_m] growing up and I always thought his name was cool

Herbert, [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f]: wonderful!

I adore the name [name_m]Herbert[/name_m], the kind of adoration that makes me want to capitalize it.

Like [name_m]Chester[/name_m], it is cozy and classic and has good nns.

It’s too old-fashioned, I’m afraid. I can’t see a kindergartener named [name_m]Herbert[/name_m], nor a teenager.
Maybe [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] or [name_u]Harry[/name_u]?

I love it! It’s totally on-trend with other old-school revivals but so far remains undiscovered! I have a soft spot for all the undiscovered -bert names, especially: [name_m]Herbert[/name_m], [name_m]Hubert[/name_m], and [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m]!

Unfortunately it reminds me of Mr. [name_m]Herbert[/name_m] from Family [name_m]Guy[/name_m].

Where I’m from people pronounce that name as “A-bear” and its usually a surname. As a first name I think it would be too dated. Some names I like that work well with the girl pairings [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] & [name_f]Frances[/name_f]:

Jesper or [name_u]Jasper[/name_u]
[name_m]Charles[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m]
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m]

I can’t take to the name much myself. And that says a lot as I usually love all the older/vintage type names. Have you considered [name_u]Howard[/name_u] or [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m] ?
Seymour is also nice and Clancy.

I can’t get on board with [name_m]Herbert[/name_m]. It just seems so dated and clunky for a child or an adult these days. Plus, [name_m]Herb[/name_m] is such an unappealing nickname (in my opinion). Sorry, these are just my thoughts on the name. Have you considered [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m], [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m], [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], [name_m]Winston[/name_m], [name_u]Rex[/name_u], [name_m]Errol[/name_m], [name_m]Baxter[/name_m], [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m], [name_m]Otis[/name_m] or [name_u]August[/name_u]? I love the suggestion of [name_u]Clancy[/name_u] too.
