[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! My husband and I are expecting our second baby! Our daughters name is [name_f]Lilah[/name_f]. We aren’t going to find out what we are having so we need a name for both genders!
We already have narrowed down our choices for girl names: [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] or [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f].
Boy names are a bit more challenging for us: I like [name_u]Theo[/name_u]… would using the nickname [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] work still even if we didn’t use the formal name [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]? My husband likes the name [name_u]Finn[/name_u]. I have always loved [name_u]Finn[/name_u] but ruled it out because our last name is [name_m]Fisk[/name_m]. Is [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Fisk[/name_m] usable like my husband thinks or does it need to be out of the running?
I think [name_u]Theo[/name_u] nn [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] does still work.
I definitely would not use [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Fisk[/name_m], however, [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] [name_m]Fisk[/name_m] nn [name_u]Finn[/name_u] would be ok. And perhaps other longer names for the name [name_u]Finn[/name_u] might work too so if you really love [name_u]Finn[/name_u] perhaps look into longer names?
Absolutely love your girl choices by the way! [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is especially beautiful.
I don’t think [name_u]Finn[/name_u] works with your last name unfortunately. I agree with the previous person that you could look into longer names if you REALLY love it. But if you’ll call him [name_u]Finn[/name_u] most of the time he will still be [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Fisk[/name_m], so I would avoid it.
I think you could still call a [name_u]Theo[/name_u], “[name_u]Teddy[/name_u]” if you want to. If you plan on calling him [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], I would probably just go with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] though. He can still go by [name_u]Theo[/name_u] or [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] and I like the way [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Fisk[/name_m] sounds. But maybe you and/or your husband just don’t like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m].
I also agree with the previous poster that [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is just divine! and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] are nice together.
Using [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] as a nn for [name_u]Theo[/name_u] doesn’t work in my head because the letters needed for it are not in the name [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and it’s like giving a nn for a nn. Kind of like naming someone [name_m]Will[/name_m] but calling them [name_m]Liam[/name_m]. I mean, it can obviously still be done and if you love it then do it, but I can see some confusion arising from it. That being said, I love [name_u]Theo[/name_u]!
As for [name_u]Finn[/name_u], no unfortunately [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Fisk[/name_m] sounds like a character name. I would suggest [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] [name_m]Fisk[/name_m] which sounds great and he can still go by [name_u]Finn[/name_u] but doesn’t have to introduce himself formally as [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Fisk[/name_m].
Good luck (and I agree - [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is to die for!)
