Here's Another Question: Carolina vs. Caroline

I love [name]Caroline[/name], but really love [name]Carolina[/name]. BUT, we just moved to [name]North[/name] [name]Carolina[/name]. Would it be terribly cruel of me to name a little girl [name]Carolina[/name] in [name]North[/name] [name]Carolina[/name]?

Not cruel, but perhaps a little awkward. Also, I don’t think [name]Carolina[/name] flows well with [name]Elizabeth[/name]. Hmm, knowing that you live in [name]Carolina[/name] might sway my vote to [name]Claire[/name].

Hmmm, that’s true - [name]Caroline[/name] does pair much better with [name]Elizabeth[/name] than [name]Carolina[/name] does.

I probably prefer [name]Carolina[/name] over [name]Caroline[/name] when it’s pronounced cara-[name]LEE[/name]-nuh. Maybe with the nn [name]Lina[/name].

But chances are most people will pronounce it like the state, so in that case I prefer [name]Caroline[/name]. And yes I also agree that either name might be a bit much given that you live in [name]North[/name] [name]Carolina[/name]!

My opinions exactly. And like previous posters said, [name]Caroline[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] sound better together than [name]Carolina[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name].

I think you could use [name]Carolina[/name], especially if you pronounce it [name]Caro[/name]-lee-na. I also don’t think its weird that you live in [name]North[/name] [name]Carolina[/name]. I’m sure there are a couple of [name]Austin[/name]'s and [name]Dallas[/name]'s that live in [name]Texas[/name]. [name]Carolina[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] doesn’t seem like a tongue twister so if you like the name go for it.

[name]Caroline[/name] is fine if you live in NC. [name]Carolina[/name]? Pushing it, esp. since people commonly refer to the State, the University, etc. as just [name]Carolina[/name]. A bit cutesy, [name]IMO[/name].

I like the flow of [name]Carolina[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. [name]Carolina[/name] is one of my new favorite names!

I live in [name]Georgia[/name], and I know babies are named [name]Georgia[/name].
