Looking for girl names that my husband and I can [name]LOVE[/name] for our future daughter. For now I won’t give you the names on our list…
But we would love it if you could suggest names you think we might like based on the following criteria! Thanks in advance!!
Pretty, girly name
Easy to pronounce, and preferably easy to spell
Not too popular (preferably at least not in the top 50-100)
Familiar, but unique
Two or more syllables
No names starting with a “B”
No names with the “may” sound in them (sounds weird with our last name)
Wow, you guys are great! There are some definite possibilities here. From the names you all have suggested, I’m liking…
[name]Evelyn[/name]
[name]Serena[/name] (I think this is very pretty, but my hubby’s not crazy about it.)
[name]Selena[/name] (similar to [name]Serena[/name], never considered it, but kinda like it)
[name]Eliza[/name] (probably wouldn’t actually use this, but I love the spunkiness, uniqueness, but familiarity of it)
[name]Felicity[/name] (love it, but hubby says it sounds like the name of a boat to him. :/)
Elowen (I do like this, and it was on the list at one time, but the pronunciation issues are a turn off for me)
[name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Love[/name] it!!
[name]Lilah[/name] ([name]Lila[/name] is on our list. A little to popular for me, but my hubby really likes it.)
[name]Clara[/name] (cute, but have a relative with this name. Really like [name]Claire[/name], but doesn’t work with out last name.)
Auntshann, sorry, I just saw your post. Of the ones you suggested, I really Like [name]Elise[/name]!! [name]Cassandra[/name] and [name]Alana[/name] are also pretty. Thanks!
[name]Just[/name] got back on Nameberry, and wow, so many great suggestions! Of the ones suggested, I like [name]Sabrina[/name], [name]Vanessa[/name], [name]Lydia[/name], [name]Elena[/name] (except for pronunciation confusion), [name]Ariel[/name] (hubby loves, but I’m not crazy about it. And I was so excited to see [name]Emmeline[/name], [name]Laurel[/name], [name]Coralie[/name], and [name]Diana[/name] listed, because these are all names on our list. [name]Coralie[/name] is actually my current favorite!
I’m loving all these suggestions! It’s so nice to get a fresh perspective on names that meet our criteria!
This is just what I’ve been looking for - some fresh names to consider! So here’s what our list now looks like. (Some were all ready on our list, and several were added from your suggestions).
[name]Coralie[/name]- I have loved this name since I was a young girl, and I still love it!
[name]Annelise[/name]- This is a fairly new name love for me. Manages to honor several relatives - an [name]Ann[/name], [name]Antoinette[/name], and [name]Elizabeth[/name]. Plus it’s beautiful! Not sure on the best spelling though. To me [name]Annelise[/name] feels the most natural ([name]Ann[/name]+[name]Elise[/name]). Thoughts?
[name]Elise[/name]- Beautiful and simple. I can’t decide if I prefer this to the more frilly [name]Annelise[/name]?
[name]Aria[/name]- [name]Love[/name] the melodic sound of this name!
[name]Laurel[/name]- Probably would always be confused with [name]Laura[/name], but I still think it’s pretty.
[name]Cecily[/name]- I go back and forth on this. Sometimes I think it’s beautiful, delicate, but strong. And other times I just hear “sissy”. The meaning “blind” doesn’t bother me too much since we would just pair it with a name that means “love”, like [name]Carys[/name] or something.
[name]Vivienne[/name]- [name]Love[/name] the sound, and the idea of this name, but can’t decide if I can really see us using it.
[name]Emmeline[/name]- Beautiful name in my opinion! BUT, I really don’t care for the nn [name]Emmy[/name], and it almost seems inevitable with this name.
[name]Charlotte[/name]- Would probably call her [name]Lottie[/name] (a family name) most of the time. I just hate that this name is so popular though!
[name]Lila[/name]- My hubby’s top pick. It seems a little too popular to me though, plus we know some folks from church with a little [name]Lila[/name].
[name]Kelsey[/name]- Not sure why this is on our list… To me it seems like it’s probably a bit dated. More of a name for a teenager or someone in their 20’s, but I’ve just always thought it was a cute name.
Soooo, what do you think of these? You all have been so vey helpful, and I really value your opinion!!
