I love Shakespearean names so I think it’s lovely!
I don’t like it at all. I prefer [name_f]Hermione[/name_f].
I don’t like it, and I think it’s way too close to hernia to work.
It’s too close to “hernia” for me to be brave enough to use it, but if I met someone named [name_f]Hermia[/name_f] I would think of A Midsummer [name_m]Night[/name_m]‘s [name_u]Dream[/name_u] and probably appreciate their parents’ daring. I like it, but think it would probably be difficult to wear.
I know a little girl named [name_f]Aislinn[/name_f] [name_f]Hermia[/name_f] with twin [name_m]Thane[/name_m] [name_m]Lysander[/name_m]. Her father is in my pagan circle and worships [name_m]Hermes[/name_m] is why it’s her middle (the [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] connection with their middles is a coincidence).
Anyway, I’ve never though about Hernia when I hear her name. No one else seems to have thought of it, based on their reactions, but now I’m thinking of it.
I still think it’s beautiful. Nicknames [name_f]Mia[/name_f] (normal), [name_f]Ria[/name_f], [name_f]Hera[/name_f] are nice.
I thought more of “hermit” than “hernia.” I don’t know…I like the character, but the name’s definitely not my favorite. The middle name spot is a good place for this one, I think.
I thought of both hernia and hermit. Definitely something I’d avoid due to association.
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] is a much better option.
I actually thought it was quite pretty when I read “A Midsummer Nights [name_u]Dream[/name_u]” but… I also thought it was not usable.
Aesthetically nice but I didn’t like how the name sounded out loud.
That “[name_m]Herm[/name_m]” sound is just hopelessly dorky to me.
Very close to hernia, and I do not find the sound attractive in the least bit. I think [name_f]Hera[/name_f] is beautiful, but there’s something about a soft “her” being ended so abruptly by an angry “m”. That’s what makes me so unsure about liking “[name_f]Fern[/name_f]”…
But ahem, [name_f]Hermia[/name_f] is just NMS…
Also reminds me of old beared dudes with cabins in the wilderness and crabs.
Looks great on paper though.
I don’t really care for it but I didn’t immediately think hernia until I saw the poll.
Part I :

@giinkies : Thanks! Yep, maybe it’s not very usable
Part II :
@southern.maple : Thank you
@cheele : Thank you
I love [name_f]Hera[/name_f]! I was considered a while ago but I decide I just don’t like the goddess
I agree in paper looks lovely but I don’t mind the sound either.
@charmingwitch : Thank you
I think it’s absolutely gorgeous. [name_f]Hermia[/name_f] makes me think of flowers… I love the character in A Midsummer [name_m]Night[/name_m]'s [name_u]Dream[/name_u], she’s one of my favourite [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] girls.
I never had an issue with [name_f]Hermia[/name_f] until right now when I misread it as “Hernia” before I even opened your thread
it’s pretty unfortunate. On the flip side, I love [name_f]Hortense[/name_f]/ [name_f]Hortensia[/name_f] and Hecate, and those seem to have the same feel.
[name_f]Hermia[/name_f] shows a lot of red flags for me. Two particular ones are…
It sounds so. freaking. close. to hernia. Only one letter away.
Sounds like the female version of a hermit.
So all in all, I dislike this name. I think [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] is a much better option.
Part III :
@[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] : Thanks !! Iam glad you like it
@lucialucentum : Thanks !! I like your suggestions ! Hecate is lovely
@[name_f]Em[/name_f] : Thanks
I dont like [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] for me . I understand your reasons for not liking this name .
[name_m]Way[/name_m] too close to Hernia. [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] is a better option, but for me that’s too associated with [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]. There are many prettier Shakespearean names to choose from.
