We have a two year old named [name]Hermione[/name] [name]Margot[/name] (last name pronounced “[name]Con[/name]”). She’s named for the character in Greek mythology (not the HP character, though we don’t mind that reference). Basically, long story short, in my family it’s tradition to name the first daughter after the mother, and my name is [name]Helen[/name], but we’re kind of non-conformists and didn’t want to stick to the tradition 100% so we named her [name]Hermione[/name] because in mythology [name]Hermione[/name] is only the daughter of [name]Helen[/name] of [name]Troy[/name]. Now [name]Hermione[/name] is getting a sister! We have only two “musts” when it comes to names, they must be unusual/uncommon (as a given name in the US) and must have historical/literary/mythological connection. We should probably steer clear of any and all names found in/popularized by the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] series. In general we like vintage quirky names and will be using a family middle.
What do you suggest? We have a totally fresh slate and we’re open to any and all suggestions!
I’m so much better with boys names when it comes to this stuff but i’ll give it a shot! It’s too bad you’re avoiding HP names because [name]Ginevra[/name] was one I would have suggested for you!

Unusual/uncommon with a historical/literary/mythological connection:
[name]Araminta[/name]
[name]Artemisia[/name]
Adrasteia ([name]Hermione[/name] is a strong literary character so I like this name with it best because it means “not inclined to run away.” Also, it is the name of a lesser know goddess)

[name]Phoebe[/name] was [name]Hermione[/name]'s sister, I believe. That would also connect to the cool way you came up with [name]Hermione[/name]'s name! [name]Phoebe[/name] is fairly popular, though I have yet to meet one in real life, and it is classic enough to avoid trendiness and even over-exposure.
I immediately thought of [name]Athena[/name] and [name]Thisbe[/name] for you. You might also like [name]Cordelia[/name], Semele and [name]Helena[/name].
A lot of people suggested [name]Athena[/name], and I agree. It will lead people from the HP reference to the Greek [name]Goddess[/name] reference. I think [name]Hermione[/name] is a lovely name, and hey, her character in HP was pretty cool!
Have you tried…
[name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Persephone[/name] (uncommon yet, beautiful!) if it’s to weird for you, try it as a middle name!
[name]Brynn[/name]
[name]Rosalind[/name]
[name]Denisse[/name]
[name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Celeste[/name]
