- Thoughts on the name [name_f]Hermione[/name_f]?
- Is it still too “[name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]” themed?
- Thoughts on the nickname Mione (my-oh-knee)
- Thoughts on the sibset [name_m]David[/name_m] [name_m]Walter[/name_m], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] and [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Clarisa[/name_f] ([name_m]David[/name_m], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] & Mione)?
Whether it’s too [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] may depend on where you live. If you live in a country where it enjoyed regular usage pre-HP, then the association isn’t as fatal as if you live in, say, the United States.
Since you are young, I feel like by the time you have babies it will be cool. Yes the reference is there and will always be, but it’s a great reference. I think a lot of times when people respond, they think of just the name, they don’t visualize a child with the name. People have personalities and over time, as a child grows with a name, that’s what people will think when they hear ‘[name_f]Hermione[/name_f]’, not the character. I also think it’s a really cool name and I wish people would use it so it wasn’t such a ‘character’ name. It’s a great name!
Mione, I do not care for personally. Sorry
[name_m]Set[/name_m] of names: [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] it! I love love love all three names. I will say, as a child of the 90s, [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f] is too pop culture for my taste. [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Elyse[/name_f], [name_f]Marissa[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], would fit better [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
I say go for it, regardless; the association is always going to be there, probably, but it will lessen with time and you do have that advantage. (For what it’s worth, I fully intend on using [name_f]Daenerys[/name_f].)

Thoughts on the name [name_f]Hermione[/name_f]? - Lively, magical and whimsical choice.

Is it still too “[name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]” themed? - [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] was around long before the HP books/films. Why let HP ruin a perfectly wonderful name? [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] was the name of two wonderful British actresses of the past(Gingold and Baddeley) and one in the present ([name_u]Norris[/name_u]). The name [name_m]Harry[/name_m] is still quite popular in [name_m]Britain[/name_m] so [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] hasn’t seemed to hurt that name. I don’t like how some people dismiss a name with such coldness and carelessness simply because it’s associated with a popular series. [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] is a name of distinction so it deserves a little more respect. The name will survive the HP connection.

Thoughts on the nickname Mione (my-oh-knee) - I don’t really care for the nn. [name_f]Mimi[/name_f] or [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] would be better choices.

Thoughts on the sibset [name_m]David[/name_m] [name_m]Walter[/name_m], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] and [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Clarisa[/name_f] ([name_m]David[/name_m], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] & Mione)? - I like them together. This sibset has a mix of Biblical tradition ([name_m]David[/name_m]) classic beauty ([name_f]Alice[/name_f]) and mythological strength ([name_f]Hermione[/name_f]). They’re all unique but complement each other.
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] is a gorgeous choice. I don’t find it too HP because it was around before the books came out and also, [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_m]Granger[/name_m] doesn’t ruin a name to me. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite nickname is [name_f]Minnie[/name_f]. I am afraid I am not a fan of [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] with [name_m]David[/name_m] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f].
- I love [name_f]Hermione[/name_f]! It’s a great name and the HP association makes it even more attractive (for me).
- I think it is still very linked to [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m], but I’d love for people to think I’d named my daughter after the character. She is a brilliant character, and a wonderful namesake. The only problem could be that she is quite a character to live up to, but I’d make sure that my daughter knows she doesn’t have to.
- I prefer the [name_f]Hermione[/name_f], in full, but Mione is okay. I prefer it to Hermy anyway, which sounds too much like [name_m]Hermes[/name_m].
- It might be because I like [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] so much or just more unusual names in general, but I think [name_m]David[/name_m] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] don’t quite match up. Not that they’re not great names, but it’s likely they would meet quite a few people with the same name, whilst [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] would meet maybe 1 or 2. Personally, it would drive me crazy if I had a name that much more popular than my siblings, and it could probably go both ways. But I still believe if you love the names enough, you can use them.
