ZEPHAN! AHHHHHHH! I have a Zephan. I think it’s SUCH a beautiful name and nobody uses it, I hardly ever even see it in consideration!
My other boys are [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] and [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] – any help there? [name_m]Ragnar[/name_m] or [name_m]Apollos[/name_m] if this one is a boy.
What about [name_m]Osiris[/name_m] or [name_m]Orson[/name_m] nm [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] or just [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m]. That seems like a compromise between [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] and [name_u]Izzy[/name_u]. Other suggestions: [name_m]Elihu[/name_m] nm [name_m]Eli[/name_m], [name_m]Garrick[/name_m] nm [name_u]Gary[/name_u] or [name_m]Rick[/name_m] (not common anymore), [name_m]Welby[/name_m] nm [name_m]Wells[/name_m].
Yesterday we talked about [name_m]Reuben[/name_m], I like the nn Roo.
And he said the slightly unfortunate similar sounding [name_u]Max[/name_u] and our surname to someone else didn’t bother him too much, I’m sure unless people are big formula1 fans they won’t know anyway but I’m still not sure about [name_u]Max[/name_u].
I’d prefer two syllables so maybe [name_m]Maxim[/name_m]? [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m].
I still really like [name_m]Xander[/name_m] but I don’t think he’s going to let me have that either. I’ve tried my best to talk it up, it’s only number 240ish in the UK while [name_u]Max[/name_u] is 25 and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] 17.
He likes [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] and [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] but I’m not a fan.
Wish this was easier!
I’d love something with meaning, [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] at least means behold a son, very appropriate! and like biblical names too but there are very few that seem to fit.
[name_m]Zebedee[/name_m], it means “God has bestowed”
[name_m]Zebediah[/name_m] ([name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] is a variation of this name)
[name_m]Zebulun[/name_m], check out the meaning here: Meaning, origin and history of the name Zebulun - Behind the Name
Zimri, “my praise” or “my music” Meaning, origin and history of the name Zimri - Behind the Name
[name_m]Zacchaeus[/name_m] (I can’t find the meaning but he’s a good namesake by himself - and nn [name_m]Zach[/name_m] is similar to [name_u]Max[/name_u]!)
[name_m]Zachary[/name_m] “God remembers”
[name_m]Zacharias[/name_m]
[name_m]Zechariah[/name_m] (all three of these are from the same root name, all can use nn [name_m]Zach[/name_m]/[name_m]Zack[/name_m])
It’s [name_m]Zach[/name_m]/[name_m]Zachary[/name_m] etc that he’s stuck on and won’t let go unfortunately and I just don’t like it.
I quite like [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] but think he’s less keen on that than Zephan.
[name_m]Zebediah[/name_m] is ok but would really prefer something shorter.
I just think something like [name_f]Lyssa[/name_f], Cesca, [name_f]Thea[/name_f] and [name_m]Xander[/name_m] sounds so nice together, why can’t he see that
As he starts feeling the pressure maybe you could fall in love with something you know he wont like like [name_m]Zebediah[/name_m] or [name_m]Zebulon[/name_m] or just go with [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] and then try and get him to compromise on what you really want. Ok so maybe that’s a bit underhanded but this little guy needs a name.
[name_m]Zane[/name_m]? It’s a variation of [name_m]John[/name_m]. [name_m]Steffan[/name_m]? [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] with [name_m]Xander[/name_m] for short?
[name_m]Zane[/name_m] makes me think insane for some reason ha
I think [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] would just get called [name_u]Alex[/name_u] by everyone which is what I’d prefer to avoid having known this very naughty boy of that name for 6 years.
I had hoped my lovely other half would have come round to a nice name by now. He claims he didn’t like [name_f]Thea[/name_f] when I was pregnant before but it grew on him and he loved it in the end. I think he is more bothered this time because we have a boy, quite likely our only one and last baby too so he’s sticking to his favourite name like glue and maybe just worries more about the implications of a name on a boy…maybe
Think we are getting closer, either that or I’m just getting desperate and just really want to name him!
My faves currently are [name_m]Milo[/name_m], [name_m]Xander[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_m]Asher[/name_m] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u].
Dh isn’t keen on them he’s now dropped [name_m]Zach[/name_m] thank goodness and is wanting [name_u]Max[/name_u] or [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], which I do like, my only issues are their mad popularity and our surname.
I like [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] better with the girls names. 2 syllables, ends in an ah type sound etc
Also like the nn [name_m]Oz[/name_m] and [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m]
But it’s no. 7 in the UK popularity list, moved up 50+ places in the last 12 years so there’s tons of Oscars about.
Should I just try and forget that, make my peace with it and accept its popular because it’s a lovely name?
Full name could be
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m] or
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m] [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m] or
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m] or
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m] [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m]
My absolute favorite boy name is [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m]. I think it is different without being to unusual. It has a great meaning and has several cool nn’s. I think from whar you are saying it might tick a few boxes? Otherwise if you like z names I like zephyr or zane.
Instead of [name_u]Max[/name_u], might you like [name_u]Pax[/name_u], [name_u]Paxton[/name_u], [name_m]Dax[/name_m], [name_u]Rex[/name_u], or [name_u]Lex[/name_u] (from [name_m]Alexander[/name_m])?
Only you can decide whether the popularity bothers you… but yes, many times those popular names are just because they are great names. Of your combos, I really like [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m]. It has a great, easygoing kind of feel, with buttoned-up [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] at the beginning and adventurous [name_m]Fox[/name_m] at the end.
I still love [name_m]Fox[/name_m] but unsure about it being a first name. I think [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] has been and gone, the popularity bothers me, plus knowing someone with this name and our surname. And my sister pointed out yesterday that [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] has a very similar sound to Cesca so maybe not the best idea!
I like [name_u]Rex[/name_u], [name_u]Lex[/name_u] etc And [name_m]Dex[/name_m] but oh isn’t keen.
[name_m]Feel[/name_m] like I’m headed for giving in on something I’m not sure about. [name_u]Max[/name_u] at least is slightly less popular than [name_m]Oscar[/name_m].
I used to love names, this is just stressing me out, though my slow recovery from emergency section and a raging cold aren’t helping either!
I think [name_m]Maxon[/name_m] is a really nice name, not as feminine was [name_m]Maxim[/name_m] (which reminds me of that giantess from [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]), and not as common as [name_u]Max[/name_u]. Also, if your like [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], why not also try [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]?
Well, if I’m honest, I do like the name [name_m]Brian[/name_m] and [name_m]Bruce[/name_m]! Also, [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] is a lovely name and the nickname [name_m]Zach[/name_m] is so cute.
Would you consider any of these:
[name_m]Asher[/name_m]
[name_u]Michael[/name_u]
[name_m]Emilio[/name_m]
[name_m]Judd[/name_m]
[name_u]Bobby[/name_u]
[name_u]Robin[/name_u]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u]
