Histoires de prénoms podcast

My heart’s wishes have been answered… after years of hoping for a baby names podcast I’d love (I’ve thought so many times about starting my own), I finally found one! You have no idea how many times I’ve searched my various podcasting apps for “naming,” “baby names,” etc. and I KNOW I’ve done it before in my other languages as well, but Audible’s lovely algorithm finally just sent me Histoires de prénoms podcast… [BTW I know that The Baby Names podcast exists… it’s just never been what I have wished for in a naming podcast… I’m all about the personal storytelling…]

Sorry for those of you who don’t speak/aren’t studying French, but it seems amazing! I’ve only listened to a couple episodes since discovering it two days ago, but I started with the interview of a mother who chose Shéérazade for her second child’s name (!!! if that’s not enough to pique your interest, where is your heart?) and it seems like the interviewer generally asks about the entire family’s names, the parent(s)’ relationship to their own names, the moment at which they started dreaming up baby names (in childhood or later), when during pregnancy the name came to them and how that deliberation and compromise between partners went down, and finally of course the name’s importance/meaning to the parent(s), etc. The episodes are about 20ish minutes. The podcast just started at the start of last year, but here are the names explored so far:

It’s so cool that old names like Shéérazade are still being used. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

But just fyi for anybody considering it off that list, Générique is the trailer, not a real baby name!! Literally translates to generic. :joy::joy:

Haha when I saw that I was like… is that for real? But I didn’t start the podcast from the beginning yet to find out.
