Historic Smush

I was using find a grave, and I decided to type in my last name to see what would come up. I found one name particularly…baffling. A baby girl born in February 1861 and died in [name]June[/name] 1861 was named…

Annamanda.

Very strange and unappealing in my opinion. What do you think?

I test hearing, and sell hearing aids for a living, so I work with a lot of older clientele. [name]One[/name] old-timey smush name I heard recently was Jenelda. Dad liked the names [name]Jenny[/name] and [name]Nelda[/name], so he put them together. So it’s not just modern parents with these proclivities. Annamanda sounds like “And [name]Amanda[/name]” to me and I don’t much care for it.
