Hey!
The last time I asked for naming advice for my characters here, I actually managed to finish that story, so maybe if I do it now with the next one it will bring me some motivation as well.
So I am working on a short story revolving around the [name_u]French[/name_u] Revolution. It’s about a young woman coming from the island of Martinique ([name_u]French[/name_u] colony) to the European part of [name_f]France[/name_f] There, she fallls in love with a devoted [name_u]French[/name_u] Revolutionary who is a part of the Jacobin club. They go on to have children. Our MC tries to stop her lover from becoming increasingly radical to save her family.
THE NAMES OF THE CHARACTERS:
DW: [name_f]Claudine[/name_f] Malveaux
DH: ??? Malveaux
DD1: [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] Martinique Malveaux
Maxine being after [name_m]Maximilien[/name_m] de Robespierre - This historical figure is sort of the teacher/mentor to our heroine’s lover.
Martinique being after her mother’s island of origin
DD2: [name_f]Hersilia[/name_f] Beguine Malveaux
Hersilia was the wife of the founder of [name_u]Rome[/name_u] in [name_m]Roman[/name_m] mythology - for our heroes the [name_u]French[/name_u] Republic is something as glorious as [name_u]Rome[/name_u] (which is proven kinda wrong later in the story)
Beguine is a type of dance traditional for the people of Martinique
DS1: [name_u]Claude[/name_u] [name_m]Hippolyte[/name_m] Malveaux
Claude was named after his mother, [name_f]Claudine[/name_f] and her love of horses
DS2: [name_u]Jean[/name_u]-[name_m]Jacques[/name_m] Malveaux
After [name_u]Jean[/name_u]-[name_m]Jacques[/name_m] [name_u]Rousseau[/name_u] whose work had a huge impact on the views of [name_u]French[/name_u] revolutionaries.
Is it a good sibset? Or are the names of the girls too “outlandish”? Is there somnething I should change?
Also - I don’t really have a name for [name_f]Claudine[/name_f]’s lover and the children’s father in that story. So if you have any suggestions please feel free to write.
