Historical story - Is it a good sibset?

Hey!

The last time I asked for naming advice for my characters here, I actually managed to finish that story, so maybe if I do it now with the next one it will bring me some motivation as well.

So I am working on a short story revolving around the [name_u]French[/name_u] Revolution. It’s about a young woman coming from the island of Martinique ([name_u]French[/name_u] colony) to the European part of [name_f]France[/name_f] There, she fallls in love with a devoted [name_u]French[/name_u] Revolutionary who is a part of the Jacobin club. They go on to have children. Our MC tries to stop her lover from becoming increasingly radical to save her family.

THE NAMES OF THE CHARACTERS:

DW: [name_f]Claudine[/name_f] Malveaux
DH: ??? Malveaux

DD1: [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] Martinique Malveaux

Maxine being after [name_m]Maximilien[/name_m] de Robespierre - This historical figure is sort of the teacher/mentor to our heroine’s lover.

Martinique being after her mother’s island of origin

DD2: [name_f]Hersilia[/name_f] Beguine Malveaux

Hersilia was the wife of the founder of [name_u]Rome[/name_u] in [name_m]Roman[/name_m] mythology - for our heroes the [name_u]French[/name_u] Republic is something as glorious as [name_u]Rome[/name_u] (which is proven kinda wrong later in the story)

Beguine is a type of dance traditional for the people of Martinique

DS1: [name_u]Claude[/name_u] [name_m]Hippolyte[/name_m] Malveaux

Claude was named after his mother, [name_f]Claudine[/name_f] and her love of horses

DS2: [name_u]Jean[/name_u]-[name_m]Jacques[/name_m] Malveaux

After [name_u]Jean[/name_u]-[name_m]Jacques[/name_m] [name_u]Rousseau[/name_u] whose work had a huge impact on the views of [name_u]French[/name_u] revolutionaries.

Is it a good sibset? Or are the names of the girls too “outlandish”? Is there somnething I should change?
Also - I don’t really have a name for [name_f]Claudine[/name_f]’s lover and the children’s father in that story. So if you have any suggestions please feel free to write.

These names and this story sound so intriguing! I have no idea if it is a good fit for the context, but what about the name [name_m]Etienne[/name_m]?

Sibset sounds great to me!

I’m not sure if these are fitting for the time period, but I’ll try and suggest names for the father! I added meanings as well, since you seem to like names with meaning behind them - maybe you spot one that connects back to his personality/story.
[name_m]Louis[/name_m] - renowned warrior
[name_u]Antoine[/name_u] - praiseworthy or priceless
[name_u]Jules[/name_u] - forever young
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] - lion
[name_m]Luc[/name_m] - light
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] - noble one
[name_m]Gaston[/name_m] - the foreigner/stranger
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] - mind
[name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] - pledge, promise
[name_m]Frederic[/name_m] - peaceful ruler
[name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] - god is my strength
[name_m]Nicolas[/name_m] - victory of the people
[name_m]Orville[/name_m] - from the gold town
[name_m]Percival[/name_m] - piercing
[name_m]Raphael[/name_m] - healed by god
[name_m]Pierre[/name_m] - stone/rock
[name_m]Sebastien[/name_m] - revered
[name_m]Valentin[/name_m] - valient
[name_m]Russell[/name_m] - red-haired
[name_u]Tristan[/name_u] - full of sorrow

Hey everyone!

Thank you all for the amazing replies! It definitely helped a lot, especially choosing the name for the main male character. It also made me think about his story and personality more and I think those combos suit him the best:

  1. [name_m]Nicolas[/name_m] [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] Malveaux (“victory of the people healed by God”)

This describes how the character felt at the beginning (revolution being a glorious process - a victory necessary after hundreds of years of opression) and how he evolved (returned to being a traditional, conservative man with strong faith and realised the cost of the revolution was too high for his friends/family.)

  1. [name_m]Valentin[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] Malveaux (“valiant mind”)

Describes his way of thinking - he tries to motivate people to fight for their freedom using a pen and a fair amount of charisma.

  1. [name_m]Gaston[/name_m] [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] Malveaux (“a stranger full of sorrow”)

This focuses on the more romantic aspect of the story and describes how [name_f]Claudine[/name_f] sees her lover when they first meet.

Which combo do you think flows the nicest in terms of sound/visuals?
