History behind

Legalia?
It was my great-great-great grandmother’s name and I can’t find it on baby name sites. Does anyone know anything about this name. I think it’s spelled Legalia but it might be Legelia.

any idea what part of the world it might be from?

maybe try googling it ???

I’m not sure what part of the world it came. I believe that side may be Irish? I’ve tried to google it but no success.
And I pronounce it luh-gayle-yuh

Sounds latin, but I can’t find it anywhere!! Maybe legal is a diminutive of Legalia, so legalia means law??

um… [name]Galia[/name] is a greek boys name meaning “calm”… not sure if that helps… Agalia is a greek girls name meaning “brightness or joy”. There’s also Sigalia a hebrew name meaning “God’s violet/treasure” and Angalia which is swahili!

Maybe as bex says it was a made up name based on “legal”

[name]Caoimhe[/name] x

hmm that’s interesting! I never thought to break the name down into smaller parts…thanks for doing that!
