Hits and Misses - Boys Edition

Our daughter’s first birthday is fast approaching which lately has me contemplating if/when we’ll choose to try for a second. Naturally those thoughts have driven me back to NB.

DD’s name is Sc0ut and I’m curious what you all would would choose as a sibling’s name. While I’m not necessarily a fan of corny sibsets, I do prefer them to be cohesive or at least not vastly different in terms of style/popularity/etc. which leaves my long list in a bit of disarray.

Some thoughts below:
[name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m] - too formal?
[name_m]Hawk[/name_m]
[name_m]Brooks[/name_m]
[name_u]River[/name_u]
[name_m]Noble[/name_m]
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]
[name_u]Onyx[/name_u]
[name_m]Wolf[/name_m]/[name_m]Wolfe[/name_m]
[name_m]Fox[/name_m]
[name_u]Denali[/name_u]
[name_u]Everest[/name_u]
[name_m]Penn[/name_m]
[name_u]Royal[/name_u]
[name_m]Wells[/name_m]
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m]
[name_m]Apollo[/name_m]
[name_m]Hart[/name_m]
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] - probably won’t use as a friend just had a [name_u]Rafe[/name_u]
[name_u]Dash[/name_u]
[name_u]Frost[/name_u]
[name_m]Mac[/name_m]/[name_m]Mack[/name_m]
[name_m]Duke[/name_m]
[name_u]Beck[/name_u]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_u]Everett[/name_u] - too common now?
[name_m]Kipling[/name_m]
[name_m]Nash[/name_m]
[name_m]Huck[/name_m]
[name_u]Wade[/name_u]
[name_m]Roark[/name_m]
Townes
[name_m]Bridger[/name_m]
[name_m]Vaughn[/name_m]
[name_m]Bastien[/name_m]/Bash
[name_u]Tennessee[/name_u]
[name_m]Fitz[/name_m]
[name_m]Valor[/name_m]
[name_u]Hollis[/name_u] - not sure if I prefer this for a boy or girl
[name_f]Indie[/name_f] - same as [name_u]Hollis[/name_u]
[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]
[name_u]Memphis[/name_u]
[name_u]Kit[/name_u]
[name_u]Holland[/name_u]
[name_m]Heron[/name_m]
[name_f]Cypress[/name_f]

Any you love? Hate? Recommendations?

Thanks berries!

For [name_u]Scout[/name_u]'s brother, I like:

[name_u]Wade[/name_u]
[name_m]Roark[/name_m]
[name_m]Vaughn[/name_m]
[name_m]Fitz[/name_m]
[name_u]Hollis[/name_u]
[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
[name_u]Kit[/name_u]

I noticed you have quite a few animal and place names on your list. Not sure I would use those with sibling [name_u]Scout[/name_u], because it begins to sound like you’re setting a scene with your children’s names. Are you scouting for wolves? Herons? Are you scouting in [name_u]Tennessee[/name_u]? [name_u]Holland[/name_u]?

I think these go well with your DD’s name:

[name_m]Wells[/name_m]
[name_m]Penn[/name_m]
[name_f]Indie[/name_f]- Or [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] for a longer boy version
Bash

If you like [name_m]Duke[/name_m], how about [name_u]Dane[/name_u]? I met a [name_u]Dane[/name_u] once and thought it was really unique/cool.

Another suggestion, Flynn.

The following seem to fit with [name_u]Scout[/name_u], and the starred ones are my favorites:
[name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m]*
[name_u]River[/name_u]*
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m]
[name_m]Apollo[/name_m]*
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]*
[name_u]Everett[/name_u]
[name_m]Kipling[/name_m]
[name_m]Huck[/name_m]
[name_m]Fitz[/name_m]
[name_m]Valor[/name_m]*
[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]
[name_u]Memphis[/name_u]*
[name_u]Kit[/name_u]

I’d be cautious with [name_u]Wade[/name_u], [name_u]Dash[/name_u], and [name_m]Bridger[/name_m] with [name_u]Scout[/name_u] because they’re all actions, which becomes more obvious when put together.

Thank you so much for the feedback!

@wandsworth - hmm you may be brought about the “places and things” type names not being the right choice. I suppose it would maybe come down to whether a name feels more like a name or a noun/place. Something to ponder. I hadn’t thought of this before so thank you!

@river_dweller - thank you! I do love [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] though I’m not sure DH would go for it. [name_u]Dane[/name_u] is a great suggestion though, adding that to the list!

@oftenoverseas - you raise an interesting point. Sc0ut may end up being even more limiting than I thought if I need to eliminate all places, things, and actions. I’ll have to mull that one over.
