Hoping someone can help us. I have suggested almost every possible name under the sun to my DH and most of them have met rejection.
The names he likes are:
[name]Quincy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] - I like this but I feel like [name]Quincy[/name] is a little girls name…
[name]Elizabella[/name] (Pronounced like [name]Elizabeth[/name]) [name]Grace[/name] - I like this but got a lot of good constructive feedback on a previous post, causing me to reconsider.
[name]Isabella[/name] [name]Grace[/name] or [name]Isabella[/name] [name]Quinn[/name] - too trendy, not a huge fan of the initial I
[name]Ella[/name] [name]Grace[/name] - just seems short, and unoriginal.
He will not go for [name]Quinn[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Isabelle[/name], or a longer name nickname [name]Ella[/name].
The names I like are:
[name]Vivienne[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Reverie[/name]
[name]Madeleine[/name] - our last name is [name]Meier[/name], I wonder about the alliteration. Plus I do NOT like the lynn prn. or the nn [name]Maddie[/name]
[name]Sophia[/name]
[name]Violette[/name] - not sure how this sounds with our last name…
He did say he would consider [name]Violette[/name], [name]Madeleine[/name] and [name]Sophia[/name]…
I wonder if we will ever find a name that we both love… Can you help?
(Our boys are [name]Cooper[/name] [name]Elliott[/name] and [name]Jackson[/name] [name]Lewis[/name])
I briefly remember your post about [name]Elizabella[/name] but what were the major objections that caused you to reconsider? If you still love it and he still loves it, why not go with it? It’s really a lovely-sounding name. I say if you both still like it, go with it and don’t let others’ doubts get to you!
I’m not a huge fan of your husband’s other names but I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name] and [name]Reverie[/name] on your list. [name]Elizabella[/name] [name]Reverie[/name] sounds so beautiful and romantic (but it could be too much name!). I’m also not into [name]Grace[/name] but if your hubby loves it, maybe [name]Elizabella[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is the best compromise you two can both love.
I think that [name]Ella[/name] goes beautifully with your boys’ names, so then the mn is one from your list, adding a little jazz.
[name]Ella[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Meier[/name]
[name]Ella[/name] [name]Violette[/name] [name]Meier[/name]
[name]Ella[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Grace[/name] [name]Meier[/name]
[name]Ella[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Meier[/name]
Also, why not [name]Grace[/name] as a first name?
[name]Grace[/name] [name]Elizabella[/name] [name]Meier[/name] (initials [name]GEM[/name] - HA! [name]Happy[/name] accident, there)
[name]Grace[/name] [name]Violette[/name] [name]Meier[/name]
Also, if the only objections to [name]Elizabella[/name] [name]Grace[/name] are from these chat boards, but you an hubby [name]LOVE[/name] the name, then I vote that you trash the chat board commentary and name your daughter [name]Elizabella[/name] [name]Grace[/name] without regret. It’s not my taste, but this is your daughter, so my taste is irrelevant.

We only shared the name with two family members - who liked it, but not with anyone else, we have met a lot of negativity with the names we have liked so far, so I felt nameberry was a safe place to try it out. It wasn’t so much the fact that it met adversity, it was that the objections were well thought out and made sense to me. I don’t want her to go her whole life explaining that she is [name]Elizabella[/name] - not [name]Elizabeth[/name] or [name]Isabella[/name]. Several people were confused with the pronunciation, which is another problem I don’t want her to have. The third point was that it sounded like a compromise name, made up - while I did find it on a list here on Nameberry. “Cool unusual names for girls” or something like that I don’t want her to have a name that feels made up. Lastly, someone said it could sound dated - fast. Another problem I don’t want her to have…
With brothers [name]Cooper[/name] and [name]Jackson[/name], I’d go with [name]Quincy[/name] or [name]Ella[/name]. Or use [name]Grace[/name] as a first name…The others seem uber feminine, as if parents other than those of [name]Cooper[/name] and [name]Jackson[/name] were choosing the names…
Your husband doesn’t want a longer name for [name]Ella[/name]. Was his point that he doesn’t like any [name]El[/name] names or was his point that her name should be her name and no nickname should be used? If you could name her [name]Elizabella[/name] and call her [name]Ella[/name], that gives her the option of choosing which to go by when starting school, meeting people, etc.
Of your name choices, I still like [name]Elizabella[/name] the best.
[name]Do[/name] you think [name]Quincy[/name] sounds like a little girl and not an adult? Honestly, that is my only hang up with [name]Quincy[/name], I can’t picture a 30+ yr old woman with that name…
Basically, he just doesn’t like any of the [name]El[/name] names. I have suggested:
[name]Ellen[/name] (a family name which is a major bonus to me)
Ellanore
[name]Ellery[/name]
[name]Ellison[/name] (which he liked, but we felt that with a brother named [name]Jackson[/name], people would assume she is a he)
[name]Elizabeth[/name] (obvs. the nn here would be [name]Ellie[/name])
But he likes [name]Elizabella[/name], so I would go with [name]Elizabella[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. That way, there’s an option of calling her [name]Ella[/name] or [name]Elizabella[/name]. I don’t think your other options are nearly as pretty as [name]Elizabella[/name]/[name]Ella[/name].
To answer your question, no, I don’t think [name]Quincy[/name] is a little girl’s name. Quite the opposite. To be perfectly honest with you, [name]Quincy[/name] is too masculine sounding to me to like it. It reminds me of [name]John[/name] [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Adams[/name] or Dr. [name]Quincy[/name] from the old TV show [name]Quincy[/name]. [name]Elizabella[/name]/[name]Ella[/name] is feminine and pretty. It goes perfectly with [name]Grace[/name], imo, and it gives your daughter many nickname options that [name]Quincy[/name] doesn’t should she dislike her full name.
Oh, [name]Quincy[/name] just melts my heart! I actually think the opposite of you - I think [name]Quincy[/name] is substantial enough for a grown lady, and that when she’s a bit younger she might prefer going by something like [name]Quinn[/name], [name]CeCe[/name], or Q. I think [name]Quincy[/name] is a nice compromise if your husband isn’t a [name]Quinn[/name] fan, and it’s the name I think goes best with your bunch. I like [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] alright, but I think a kind of tomboyish name like [name]Quincy[/name] deserves a little sparkle with a middle like [name]Violette[/name] (my first choice) or even your favored [name]Elizabella[/name] :3 Good luck!
[name]Quincy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] - I like [name]Quincy[/name] and know a cool 40 something with this name, but not my fave. I love the name [name]Grace[/name] as a fn and mn and these two sound good together.
[name]Elizabella[/name] (Pronounced like [name]Elizabeth[/name]) [name]Grace[/name]- Strongly dislike-sounds made up. Much prefer [name]Eliza[/name], or even [name]Bella[/name] (but dislike the Twilight connection which is so big right now)
[name]Isabella[/name] [name]Grace[/name] or [name]Isabella[/name] [name]Quinn[/name] - I love [name]Isabella[/name] and the nn [name]Izzy[/name] or [name]Bella[/name]; love mn [name]Grace[/name]; mn [name]Quinn[/name] is cute too jsut doesn’t go with [name]Isabella[/name] to me b/c [name]Quinn[/name] seems really trendy and [name]Isabella[/name] seems very classic.
[name]Ella[/name] [name]Grace[/name] - I don’t think [name]Ella[/name] seems unoriginal, I like it. Not a wow name, but a nice, sweet name. [name]Grace[/name] is more common as a filler mn though.
[name]Vivienne[/name]-Pretty, and I like nn [name]Viv[/name], not my style though. Doesn’t seem to go with [name]Cooper[/name] or [name]Jackson[/name] (trendy names), this sounds too fancy with those names.
[name]Elizabeth[/name]-Okay, not my favorite. I like nn [name]Beth[/name] though, and prefer spelling [name]Elisabeth[/name].
[name]Reverie[/name]-strongly dislike. No offence, but the people I know that use these kinds of names are usually pretty strange.
[name]Madeleine[/name] - our last name is [name]Meier[/name], I wonder about the alliteration. Plus I do NOT like the lynn prn. or the nn [name]Maddie[/name]
[name]Sophia[/name]-love this.
[name]Violette[/name] - love this, but hate this spelling. Prefer [name]Violet[/name].
He did say he would consider [name]Violette[/name], [name]Madeleine[/name] and [name]Sophia[/name]… I would only consider names he would consider, I have 3 kids and we only ever used names we both liked, so why keep considering names that only one of you like?
By the way I love both of your boys names, especially their middle names.
(Our boys are [name]Cooper[/name] [name]Elliott[/name] and [name]Jackson[/name] [name]Lewis[/name])
[name]Quincy[/name] is unique. I live near a town called [name]Quincy[/name] and for some reason i couldn’t picture naming my child after a place or object so grace, gaith, tennessee, quincy, rose, violet, etc. are out of the question for me. I do believe [name]Quincy[/name] goes well with [name]Cooper[/name] an [name]Jackson[/name]. She always has the option of going by [name]Quinn[/name]. [name]Quinn[/name] is one of my favorites. Neither sound like a name specifically for a little girl or an adult, it would flow well for either.
I forgot to say I love [name]Madeleine[/name] too, but this spelling seems off, or maybe I just don’t know how to spell it. I love nn [name]Maddie[/name] and only know Madisons not any Madeleines.
What about [name]Genevieve[/name]? I know its not on your list. I do like [name]Vivienne[/name]. Also [name]Reverie[/name] is nice.
[name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Isabella[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Reverie[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
Not the biggest fan of [name]Quinn[/name]. But i do like unique names
Growing up i never met one person with my name,
Klisha ([name]Klee[/name]-sha) or (Kuh-lee-sha)
Our [name]Quincy[/name] is actually after a town we used to vacation near. The place is VERY dear to my heart, and since my father passed (it was a place he loved as well). I found it a fitting way to honor him
At this point in time, it’s names such as [name]Isabella[/name] that seem like “little girl” names to me. While [name]Quincy[/name] might not be my first choice for a daughter, the more I think about it the more I like it. I also love the idea of using [name]Grace[/name] as a first name. [name]Even[/name] [name]Grace[/name] [name]Elizabella[/name] wouldn’t bug me that much. Or [name]Grace[/name] [name]Isabella[/name]. Using [name]Grace[/name] first makes it less expected, more of a stand-out name.
We did talk about using [name]Grace[/name] as a first name, I just felt like [name]Grace[/name] [name]Meier[/name] was kind of a forgettable name, like it just falls flat. On the other hand, there is something quiet and sophisticated about using [name]Grace[/name] as a first name…
What do you think of [name]Grace[/name] [name]Ellen[/name]? Is is ok to do 1-2-2?
