I recently read the novella 'Breakfast At [name]Tiffany[/name]‘s’, by [name]Truman[/name] Capote, and the main character goes by the name of ‘[name]Holly[/name] Golightly’.
However, the author stated that her mailbox read: ‘(Miss) [name]Holiday[/name] Golightly’.
I am now kind of digging this name for a girl, spelled either [name]Holiday[/name] or [name]Holliday[/name].
Any thoughts on this?
My first reaction was, no! But then I imagined a little girl and I thought, yes. Then I tried to imagine an old lady with that name and again I thought, no! So, I have to say, that imo maybe it’s a bit too out there.
I know one adult woman with the first name [name]Holliday[/name]. She is lovely and a very successful woman!
It’s not what I would choose personally, but I think it could work. I have a friend whose last name is [name]Holliday[/name], so I think of it more as a surname name. I think it would be extra cool if there was a family connection like that - like if it was a maiden name or something.
At first I thought no. But if you actually picture it [name]Holliday[/name] seems like a good name. If you like it go for it!
I love [name]Holiday[/name]!!! It’s on my list b/c of [name]Holly[/name] Golightly too.
Good luck!
[name]Holiday[/name] is one of my all time favorites! It has a lovely sound, and if she doesn’t like the ‘uniqueness’ of it, there’s all ways the nice normal nn of [name]Holly[/name] to fall back on. And I hadn’t actually ever thought of the Breakfast at [name]Tiffany[/name]'s connection, it just makes me like it all the more!
I like the sound of the name, but wonder if it might be a bit much to live up to! “[name]Every[/name] day’s a …”!
I am wondering if you would like it spelled
Halliday
Slightly different, and the wonderful [name]Hallie[/name] as a nn.
[name]Holiday[/name] has a lovely, happy sound to it so I can see the appeal. However, it was a film character named [name]Holly[/name] Golightly so I personally wouldn’t choose it for a first name. Often what seems wonderful in the movies doesn’t translate into real life. I like the name [name]Hollis[/name] nn [name]Holly[/name]. [name]Holiday[/name] would be a pretty middle name option.
