Holiday?

I just saw the most adorable little girl on Humans of [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m] named [name_f]Holiday[/name_f]. She looked so sweet that I fell in love with the name.
I’m typically not fond of word names but just how bad is this one? It has the built in nick name [name_f]Holly[/name_f] and I’m sure [name_u]Billie[/name_u] [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] will be a nice name sake to have.

Thoughts, opinions on the name? Honest opinions are more than welcome.
Thank You to all who respond.

(NB I posted the link to the picture on HONY two posts down)

I love [name_f]Holiday[/name_f]. I think it sounds quirky and unique, and I love the link to “Breakfast at Tiffanys.” I would love to meet a little [name_f]Holiday[/name_f]

I really like [name_f]Holiday[/name_f]. [name_f]Love[/name_f] the nn [name_f]Holly[/name_f] too.

I like word names, and while it’s not a name I would choose, I would love meeting a [name_f]Holly[/name_f]/[name_f]Holiday[/name_f]!

[name_f]Holiday[/name_f] is adorable!

[name_f]Love[/name_f] it. I instantly imagine the enchanting [name_f]Holly[/name_f] Golightly.

Holidays is a guilty pleasure name for me. If I used it I would put it in the middle spot, but I think it is a gorgeous name.

I love [name_f]Holiday[/name_f], and also [name_u]Hollis[/name_u] for a boy.

I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] and saw the same post on HONY and exclaimed to my husband how great it was (and how cute she was!).

@mscatalinahope I’m glad you like the name  I totally forgot the “Breakfast at Tiffanys” connection, so in my eyes that makes the name even more usable.

@littlewren glad you like the name.

@lynneinlove I do like this name as well but more of as a name on someone else’s kid. It is quirky but it’s not stylistically up my alley.

@katem91 Thanks for the support

@redwoodfey I’m glad you love the name and connotation

@erin91 If it didn’t have the built in nickname [name_f]Holly[/name_f], I probably would have kept it in the guilty pleasure zone myself

@suzywoo Thanks for the support. [name_u]Hollis[/name_u] is a great option which may be a bit more usable.

@sjpau I thought this girl was so cute and I thought her name fit perfectly. She was too adorable.

I think [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] is a lovely quirky name. I would just advice to avoid putting another word name as a middle name. Something like [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] would be wonderful.

Yeah, I really like that site too. I saw her and she’s adorable. I like [name_f]Holiday[/name_f].

I was just about to post a thread about the same name. I’m watching [name_f]Holliday[/name_f] [name_m]Grainger[/name_m] in the [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] and [name_m]Clyde[/name_m] mini series on the [name_m]History[/name_m] [name_f]Channel[/name_f].

I’m glad to see such positive responses. The actress is beautiful, and really got me liking the name.

@blackcatsmeow I like unusual names so the advice I typically get on here is to use a classic middle name, or give them a classic first name and call them by their quirky middle name. I understand the reasoning behind the advice so thank you for the heads up.

@c@29 [name_f]Glad[/name_f] there is another HONY fan here, she really was a sweetie

@birdies You have a great taste in names. I made that mistake already by asking about a name and not checking to see if there was another recent thread on it. It really is a beautiful quirky name.

[name_f]Holiday[/name_f] is precious, spunky, sweet, and feisty. I love it! That little girl wears it perfectly!

Unfortunately for me, my step grandmother who replaced all our family photos and keepsakes in my grandfather’s house with glass cases full of creepy dolls and porcelain chickens is named [name_f]Holly[/name_f]. Definitely not naming my child after her, so [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] is sadly not on my list.

It’s cute in [name_u]America[/name_u], but I would just add that if she decides to travel abroad, especially to Europe, people might find it overly frivolous.

I’ve seen it spelled [name_f]Holliday[/name_f]. I think I like that spelling better.

[name_f]Holiday[/name_f] is a beautiful name. Now and then I think about it and wonder whether to put it on my list. That and [name_f]Temperance[/name_f].

I’d agree, I think it’s pretty daft as a name.

The actress, [name_f]Holliday[/name_f] [name_m]Grainger[/name_m], is English but - as good as she is at acting - I’ve always thought her name was silly.
