[name_u]Holland[/name_u] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] made her appearance on [name_f]October[/name_f] 1st, almost a week after her due date, the day before I was scheduled to be induced!
[name_u]Holland[/name_u] was on my list after hearing of an actress with the name - when we were discussing names, I highlighted my favorites in the Nameberry Very Best book, and my husband went through and approved or vetoed from my choices. [name_u]Holland[/name_u] was his favorite, and he lobbied hard for it! (I had originally preferred a different name, that he liked too, but not nearly enough.)
A few months later, I had a sudden change of heart: in my head, I thought of her as [name_u]Holland[/name_u], it just felt like her name.
We love that it’s easy to spell and pronounce (as we have a difficult last name) while still being unusual. My husband’s father’s family lived in [name_u]Holland[/name_u] for a time when his dad was growing up, and (we found out after she was born and named!) [name_u]Holland[/name_u] was one of my great-grandmother’s maiden names! So we love the ties to both sides of the family as well.
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is a classic favorite (I love a more classic middle to “ground” a more unusual first) and honors my mother and [name_f]MIL[/name_f] (both named [name_f]Karen[/name_f]) as well as my grandmother [name_f]Carol[/name_f], who played a special part in me and my husband’s early relationship.
Huge thanks to all of the Berries who helped me debate our top two picks and come to a decision! I love our final choice - it suits her perfectly, just as she is a perfect fit into our lives.
