Holland/ Holly

Hello, we are expecting a little girl [name_u]June[/name_u] 1st. Feeling stuck on the name but I’m intrigued by the name [name_u]Holland[/name_u] and possibly calling her [name_f]Holly[/name_f] for short. It’s outside of the realm of names I usually like so I’m just looking for some feedback. Thanks!

I prefer [name_f]Holly[/name_f] over [name_u]Holland[/name_u]. I think [name_f]Holly[/name_f] is a lovely stand alone name. [name_f]Holly[/name_f] was on my long list.

I like [name_u]Holland[/name_u] pretty well, though it’s a bit too trendy for me with the popular place name thing it has going. I actually prefer Hollyn. I think it softens it a little. [name_f]Holly[/name_f] is a cute name and could be a nickname for [name_u]Holland[/name_u], I guess, but they’re the same length and sound almost exactly the same, so why? There’s no nickname needed here.

I quite like [name_u]Holland[/name_u], though chelsanne22 is correct that in certain circles it may come off as trendy.

[name_f]Holly[/name_f] is ok, but not a favorite of mine. I vastly prefer Dutch as a nickname, but I may be entirely biased as there is a family connection for us.

I really like [name_u]Holland[/name_u], though iam not a fan of the nn [name_f]Holly[/name_f]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Andi[/name_f]/[name_u]Andy[/name_u] or [name_f]Lola[/name_f]?

I like [name_u]Holland[/name_u] nn [name_f]Holly[/name_f] and I find it much more interesting than just [name_f]Holly[/name_f]

I personally feel neutral about both [name_u]Holland[/name_u] and [name_f]Holly[/name_f]. Sorry. But this is not my child. If I met a [name_u]Holland[/name_u] I would find it interesting, in a good way.

I love [name_f]Holly[/name_f]. And I like [name_u]Holland[/name_u] even though it isn’t my usual style.
Yes, it might be trendy, but I don’t see that as a bad thing.

It’s so cute!!

I’m not a fan of [name_u]Holland[/name_u], but I do really like [name_f]Holly[/name_f]. Have you considered [name_f]Holiday[/name_f]/[name_f]Holliday[/name_f]?

I absolutely adore the name [name_u]Holland[/name_u] with the nn [name_f]Holly[/name_f].

I like [name_u]Holland[/name_u] and think [name_f]Holly[/name_f] is cute in a kind of vintage way.

I really like [name_u]Holland[/name_u], even though I’m not usually a fan of trendy place names. Prefer other nicknames to [name_f]Holly[/name_f], but go with [name_u]Holland[/name_u]!

I prefer [name_f]Holly[/name_f] as a name. Not that I’m at all against using perceived masculine names on girls, but I think [name_u]Holland[/name_u] suits a boy better. Also, I don’t really see the point in using [name_u]Holland[/name_u] if you’re going to use the nickname [name_f]Holly[/name_f] anyway.

I think it’s a good stand-alone name. Pretty, but not overused (at least I don’t think it is). Nature-themed, but maybe less common and not as flowery as [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], etc. I’m a fan of non-floral nature names, like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. I really like it.

A lot of people love [name_u]Holland[/name_u], but I just don’t. [name_f]Holly[/name_f] is a beautiful, happy classic. I would use that instead.
