Hollis Boy or Girl? Still can't decide on a name 2 weeks left!

Still having trouble with a boys name, can’t really find anything we love. [name]Just[/name] recently saw the name [name]Hollis[/name] and really liked it but after some research I’m finding that it is used more on a girl than boy. Is this true or do you nameberry’s think it is more for a boy?
[name]Baby[/name] will be joining brothers [name]Aidan[/name], [name]Rowan[/name], [name]Declan[/name], Krew & [name]Cassius[/name]. Last name is [name]Brown[/name]. If a girl her name will be:
[name]Blythe[/name] [name]Cecelia[/name]
or
[name]Lennon[/name] [name]Cecelia[/name]
Other boys names we like are:
[name]North[/name] (love but afraid to use bc of last name)
[name]Lennox[/name]

Open to any suggestions time is running out and I feel like we have nothing for a boy.

I never thought of [name]Hollis[/name] as a girl’s name but do like it for a boy. You could easily use [name]Lennon[/name] for a boy as well.

I’ve only known [name]Hollis[/name] as a girl’s name. [name]Hollis[/name] [name]Blythe[/name] would be really lovely! Or [name]Hollis[/name] [name]Cecelia[/name] if you’re set on that as the middle name. [name]Lennox[/name] gets my vote for your boy’s option. [name]Lenny[/name] is such a good nickname!

Yeah… I’m a bit lost here. It seems like you have the boys name chosen already with [name]Lennon[/name]!

Personally, i think [name]Hollis[/name] is much more girly, mainly because it comes with the obvious nickname [name]Holly[/name]. Once again, I wouldn’t go with [name]North[/name] because of last name brown. An extreme case where fn and last name example is my friend’s name is [name]William[/name] [name]Snow[/name]. No big deal, right? [name]How[/name] about [name]Will[/name] [name]Snow[/name]? Everyone teases him saying his mn name should have been [name]Will[/name] it [name]Snow[/name]. Other boys names…
[name]Raiden[/name] (maybe too similar to [name]Aidan[/name]?)
[name]William[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Griffin[/name]
[name]Everett[/name]
[name]Nathaniel[/name]
[name]Andrew[/name]
[name]Connor[/name]
[name]Aaron[/name]
[name]Brandon[/name]
[name]Wade[/name]
[name]Xander[/name]
Not sure if you’ll like any of those, but those (in my opinion) sound good with your other boys names. You seem to like strong, but unique names. This thread has a lot of names you might like! Nameberry - Welcome to the Nameberry Forums

I see [name]Hollis[/name] as a boy’s name… there is a character on ABC’s TV’s series “Scandal” named [name]Hollis[/name] [name]Doyle[/name]

[name]Hollis[/name] is completely unisex, IMHO.

[name]Hollis[/name] in my opinion is unisex and I don’t prefer it for a boy or a girl. I love your kids’ names! [name]Lennon[/name] for a girl? I’m not a fan of [name]Blythe[/name] either.

Boys names: [name]Dex[/name], Titan, [name]Sterling[/name],

I like it better for a boy,to me it has a cowboy feel. It has seen more use by males historically. I checked SSA website for useage. The last time it was in the top 1000 for males was 1974. The last time it appeared in top 1000 for females was 1955. I think it’s still a good name for a boy. Blythe Cecelia is beautiful!
Other ideas- Knox,Barrett

I prefer [name]Hollis[/name] for a boy. I prefer [name]Blythe[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name] (this spelling) if you have a daughter.

I like the name [name]Hollis[/name]. Three other suggestions I like for boys:

[name]Palmer[/name]
[name]Fraser[/name]
[name]Gardiner[/name]

[name]Hollis[/name] for a girl, for sure!

Thanks for all the feedback! It still seems like the name is split half agree boy half agree girl. Does everyone agree or like [name]Lennon[/name] or [name]Lennox[/name] for a boy versus [name]Hollis[/name]? I really wanted to use [name]Lennon[/name] for a girl just because with 5 brothers I know she will be such a tomboy and I love [name]Leni[/name] as a nickname for her. Im not against using it for a boy just like it better on a girl:) I like the suggestion of [name]Dex[/name] but we have a [name]Declan[/name] and call him Dec or [name]Dex[/name] so that won’t work. I feel like [name]Sterling[/name] is another word name and with the last name [name]Brown[/name] not sure it works. I like [name]Palmer[/name] but for some reason like it on a girl, but being from Cincy everyone associates it with a famous quarterback. AHHH
Keep the suggestions coming thx

If you like the nickname [name]Leni[/name], you could use [name]Elena[/name] or [name]Elana[/name] or even [name]Eliana[/name].

Tomboy or not, with 5 brothers don’t you think she’d appreciate a feminine name to differentiate her from the boys? And she could easily be a girly ballerina. [name]Blythe[/name] is unisex but has a prettier sound and people would easily identify her as the girl of the group

I like [name]Hollis[/name] because it’s unisex. It leans more masculine to me because it doesn’t have a feminine sound. With your set if works better for a boy

I’m not a huge fan of [name]Hollis[/name] in general, but it would work well in your family. It’s good because it doesn’t sound very similar to any of your other children’s names, but has a similar feel.

[name]Holt[/name], [name]Hoyt[/name] or [name]Howell[/name] might also interest you for a boy.

I see the issue. My girls list will have 25-30 names on it while my boys list would have about 10-15.
[name]Lennon[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name] is gorgeous!!!
I see why you wouldn’t want to use [name]North[/name]… I’d steer clear from that…
[name]Lennox[/name]- [name]LOVE[/name]
[name]Blythe[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name]- alright
I’ve always seen [name]Hollis[/name] as a girls name

[name]Hollis[/name] is a very manly name. I know a couple girls are getting named this, but I don’t think it’s even in the top 1000 for girls yet.

There’s a [name]Hollis[/name] in my family tree. It’s a male.

I really like boys’ names that end in -is or -es so I’m a fan.

[name]Hollis[/name] seems more suited for a girl because it is similar to [name]Holly[/name] and [name]Holiday[/name] and [name]Holland[/name] - all used for girls.
[name]Lennon[/name] doesn’t sound right for a girl. This should be on your boy’s names list.
