Homer

What do you think of [name]Homer[/name]? Is it usable? I know it won’t be to everyone’s taste, but I really adore it. [name]Just[/name] wondering if people think that The Simpsons has pushed it into [name]Kermit[/name] and [name]Elmo[/name] territory. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks!

it will definitely will remind everyone of homer [name]Simpson[/name].

Definitely makes me think of the Simpsons first, then the Iliad and the Odyssey second. It just isn’t such an attractive sounding name to me in general.

I actually think [name]Homer[/name]'s pretty adorable. It would be quite the ahead-of-the-curve vintage choice if you ask me.

I’m so tickled [name]Homer[/name] is starting to get some attention.

I also love [name]Homer[/name]. If [name]Oscar[/name] can overcome the Grouch, then [name]Homer[/name] can overcome [name]Simpson[/name]. I’ve never watched The Simpsons so never had that association. I always knew [name]Homer[/name] as the name of two of my great-grandfathers, which is far more important to me than any cartoon character. I say this often: the only way for a name to overcome a pop culture association is for people to use the name again. It’s sad that we continue to let bad characters ruin perfectly nice names. [name]Homer[/name] has such a long and rich history that it is a shame to overlook it because of one dumb cartoon. If you ask me [name]Homer[/name] is due for a comeback anyway, and I’d like to see it on the next wave of vintage names dusted off and recycled for a new generation of boys.

[name]Homer[/name] is Rated- M [name]Kermit[/name] and [name]Elmo[/name] territory to me, sorry.

I also don’t find the name attractive at all either, it brings to mind words like homely, ho-hum.

Yes, it reminds me of [name]Homer[/name] [name]Simpson[/name] but I can also picture it on a real boy. I can’t say the same for [name]Kermit[/name] or [name]Elmo[/name].
