Honest opinion… If your MIDDLE name was after a very loved dog of your parents how would you feel? Basically we lost our dog to cancer 4 years ago, [name_m]Truman[/name_m], he was like our first baby and no pet will ever replace him… He went through college, marriage, miscarriages, military deployments etc with us… We are considering [name_m]Truett[/name_m] as a middle name for baby boy in honor of [name_m]Truman[/name_m] we’ve decided on [name_m]Ford[/name_m] as his first name in honor of his great grandmas maiden name… Would you be bothered if your parents did this?
Not at all. But im an animal lover. Regardless of that my middle names are after family members. So to me its logical to have a middle name after someone you love and want to honor. It shouldnt make a difference that its a furry someone. I love how you have opted to change it slightly from [name_m]Truman[/name_m] to [name_m]Truett[/name_m]. It will be a nice story to tell your son and in turn he will enjoy telling others including friends, girl friends and his own children. I say for got it. also sorry for the loss of your beloved pet.
That wouldn’t bother me in the least.
That wouldn’t bother me in the least. I think it’s sweet.
Not at all - I think it is great & I like the name [name_m]Ford[/name_m] [name_m]Truett[/name_m]!
Honestly? It would bother me. I adore animals and have a furbaby myself, but the idea of my parents naming me after a family pet (which nearly did happen) just feels so weird. I’m not opposed to honor names, but when you think about it, naming children after something deceased can be sort of morbid, especially since the person/animal who is being honored has NO personal connection to the child whatsoever.
That being said, I think that [name_m]Truett[/name_m] is a rather nice alternative to the pet’s actual name.

Wouldn’t bother me at all! I think it’s a sweet connection. Honoring pets, imo, is just like honoring people. I like the idea:)
I love it. Go for it. dogs are a big part of the family. If the two of you are dog lovers, then your kids will be too.
I don’t think it’s weird at all! If your dog’s name was Fido, [name_m]Buster[/name_m] or [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] it might be more out there but I like your spin on it.
I love it! And the name isn’t just about the dog, it’s about the stages of your life and finally getting to a beautiful baby. I think it’s perfect.
