My husband and I love the name [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], but just worry that it is difficult to say with those ‘R’ sounds, or can sound jumbled when said too quickly. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it is too hard to pronounce? Our last name is a strong, masculine-sounding [name_m]German[/name_m] name, which could also be a factor…
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] just makes me think of Sleeping Beauty. I think princess names are hard to love/live up to as one gets older. I don’t think it’s hard to say, but I also don’t think it rolls off the tongue.
Some ideas for others:
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
Overall, I’d give [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] like an 8/10. If it’s a 10/10 for you two, and nothing else comes close or seems right–go for it!
I love [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. I don’t think it’s hard to say. Depending on what your last name actually is, a harsher, less ‘princessy’ surname could really balance it out. Having said that, I don’t find [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] that princessy outside of the context of Sleeping Beauty, or at least no more so than about a hundred million other names, especially with the ‘tomboy’ nickname [name_u]Rory[/name_u] that everyone seems to like.
So in my opinion pronunciation issues (at least for an English person) should be practically non-existent. [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] is popular and pronounced neve. I really don’t think it’s worth worrying about. Maybe with a name like [name_f]Gwyneira[/name_f] or Caiomhe, but not [name_f]Aurora[/name_f].
I love it! I think of the northern lights and disney princess -all great associations, imo. It doesn’t seem hard to pronounce at all. I say go for it.
I love [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]! It isn’t too had to say, and once you have your little girl you’ll be constantly saying her name and it’ll roll right off your tongue easy It’s a beautiful name with a wonderful meaning!
