So I recently meet a girl about 12 years old named [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and wanted to know what others honest opinions are on the name [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] (and other spellings)
Is the name dated in your opinion
Would you use the name
[name_m]Favorite[/name_m] spelling
How many other Caitlyns (or other spellings) do you know and how old are they approximately
Middle names and sibling names
You dint have to answer all the questions be as honest as you like
I think itās fine! I know so many Caitlynās, with all different spellings. Most are in their late 20s or early 30s. Iād probably go with the spelling of Caitlin??? [name_m]Just[/name_m] āKateā is definitely my preference!
This name is extremely familiar, and I feel like I must have forgotten a few over my lifetime, but right now I canāt think of knowing any Caitlins IRL. Thereās a kind of 80ās association with [name_f]Michaela[/name_f] in my mind. Is it dated? Maybe a little, but not in an off-putting way and not so that I could not see [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] on a little one. In fact, a baby [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] would be super cute.
I really like K names, so I think my spelling preference is [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] would go well quite a few styles. E.gā¦
Classics - [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
Rare - [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalba[/name_f].
Iād avoid another ādatedā name, e.g. [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] [name_f]Deborah[/name_f].
Itās a sweet name, but I do find it very dated (90s and 2000s)! Iād expect someone with this name to be in their 20s or 30s now. I would not use it, myselfājust not my style! I love ājustā [name_f]Kate[/name_f], and [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] has charm to me on its own.
[name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] is my preferred spelling (thatās how my cousin [name_f]Caitie[/name_f] spells her name). Iāve also met people whoāve spelt theirs [name_f]Kaitlynn[/name_f], [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f], and [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f]. They range from 18-35 years old or so.
The girls I know with this name have siblings Trev0r, T@nner, Is@bell@, and Chl0e. Perhaps more, but I donāt know them!
For a sibling, Iād also suggest:
[name_m]Justin[/name_m]
[name_u]Ryan[/name_u]
[name_m]Patrick[/name_m]
[name_u]Niall[/name_u]
[name_m]Joshua[/name_m]
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f]
[name_f]Hayley[/name_f]
It does seem a bit dated ā atleast to me. I wouldnāt use it, but I like the [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] spelling. It reminds me of [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] [name_m]Jenner[/name_m]
Iād probably pair [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] with a unique middle, something like [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] or [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] would be my pick.
I like [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and this is probably my preferred spelling though I could be talked into [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]. Having said that, I wouldnāt use it. I just donāt love ālynā/āLynneā names except maybe [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] (and even in that name the lyn us the least appealing part). Iāve known a couple of Caitlyns - who would be 35-45 years by now. I see it as a pretty [name_u]Irish[/name_u] name, for someone sweet, studious and pretty much straight-laced.
Is it dated? I think yes in the sense that I associate it with the '80s-'00s, but no in the sense that I think it still feels totally usable now.
Would I use it? I donāt see why not! It gives me friendly, familiar vibes and I can see it suiting lots of different people. I think itās a very sweet choice! Realistically I probably wouldnāt end up using it simply because there are other names Iād choose first, but I definitely like it and would be pleasantly surprised to meet a little [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f].
[name_m]Favorite[/name_m] spelling? I always say Iād use the most popular spelling of any name that has multiple options, just for ease. But in this case, there are so many variations that I think youād deal with some confusion regardless. So Iād choose either [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] (for nn Kate) or maybe [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] (especially if I had any [name_u]Irish[/name_u] heritage).
How many do I know? Maybe 3-5? And lots more Kate/Katie/etc.
Middle and sibling names? I think [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] etc. would go well with lots of different middle name styles. Iād probably lean towards something totally timeless, like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], or fresh and timely (maybe a nature name or a current vintage pick?)- like @EdgeOfTheMeadow, Iād lean away from pairing it with anything that might be perceived as dated. Sibling names: [name_u]Aidan[/name_u], [name_m]Andrew[/name_m], [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u], [name_u]Connor[/name_u], [name_u]Daniel[/name_u], [name_u]Dylan[/name_u], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], Timothy; [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f], [name_f]Brianna[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Hailey[/name_f], [name_f]Julia[/name_f], [name_u]Lauren[/name_u], [name_f]Leah[/name_f], [name_f]Natalie[/name_f], [name_f]Nicole[/name_f], [name_f]Rachel[/name_f].
As a teacher I know approximately 5000 girls named [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] in some spelling or another. LOL
I think itās a very pretty name. Cute, but not cutesy.
I personally prefer [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f], and I also like [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f]. Iāve had students named [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f], [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f], [name_f]Kaytlin[/name_f], Kaytlyn, [name_f]Katlyn[/name_f], [name_f]Katelynn[/name_f], [name_f]Katelynne[/name_f], etc etc. Some of those spellings are nice and some arenāt, but itās fun!
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_u]Darcy[/name_u]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_u]Jade[/name_u]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_u]Liam[/name_u]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_u]Jack[/name_u]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_u]Dexter[/name_u]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_u]Arthur[/name_u]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_u]George[/name_u]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_u]Miles[/name_u]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] and [name_u]Arthur[/name_u]
all of the Caitlinās Iāve met have been teens, or just about! I know one [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] (13), [name_f]Kaitlin[/name_f] (16), [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] (11), [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f] (15), and a few more older ones. I think it has a fine line between dated and just average. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite spelling is [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f].
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f], and its various spellings were popular when I grew up. I have a class with 3 Caitlins spelled 3 different ways. It seems a bit dated, with popularity peaking in the 80s and 90s. I prefer the original spelling [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f].
[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! [name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f]. To be honest, Iāve never felt like a [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f], and have always gone by [name_f]Katie[/name_f], which feels right. I cringe every time I hear my full legal name, ha. Honestly, I think itās dated. The [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] spelling feels even more puratanical to me. It now also has the [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] [name_m]Jenner[/name_m] association, which is fine, but something to be aware of.
I think I know 6? All in their 20ās. It feels very dated to 90ās/very early 2000ās babies to me. [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] and [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] are my prefered spellings and feel the most timeless to me. I personally wouldnāt use it but thats mostly for personal reasons not because its a bad name.
[name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] is lovely (prefer the original spelling), but it was so overused in the 90s and early 2000s, with so many spelling variations, that it doesnāt feel special or fresh to me.
Is the name dated in your opinion? - I think so, at least partially. If youāre going to use it, stick to a somewhat traditional spelling such as [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f].
Would you use the name: Not my style, sorry!.
[name_m]Favorite[/name_m] spelling- Probably the traditional [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f], but my guilty pleasure would probably involve [name_f]Cate[/name_f] in in or ending in [name_f]Linn[/name_f].
How many other Caitlyns (or other spellings) do you know and how old are they approximately? : I probably know upwards of 5 Caitlins (various spellings), and I think their ages range from little kids to college age.
Middle names and sibling names:
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] [name_f]Lois[/name_f]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] [name_f]Jessica[/name_f]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] [name_u]Parker[/name_u]
(I donāt know your name style so I put a few in there )
Is the name dated in your opinion-- yes, it sounds early 2000s, 1990s, or 80s.
Would you use the name-- no, I personally donāt like the sound or style of it. I would put it in the same category as names like McKenzie, [name_f]Makayla[/name_f], [name_f]Brittany[/name_f], [name_u]Madison[/name_u], [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], [name_f]Jessica[/name_f].
Favorite spelling-- I donāt like the ālynā part, so maybe Katelinne or something?
How many other Caitlyns (or other spellings) do you know and how old are they approximately-- Iāve met several my age (18) over the course of my life, so I would say it would be mainly teenagers and young women.
