Honest opinions about Desmond and Dexter

Please give me your honest opinions about [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] and [name_u]Dexter[/name_u]. At times I might use [name_u]Desi[/name_u] and [name_m]Dex[/name_m] if I chose these names.

Both are appealing to me - [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] I can imagine more on a little boy, whereas [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] feels more sophisticated for an adult…but [name_u]Desi[/name_u] is still super cute for a little boy. For that reason I think I prefer [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] slightly. Both work!

I really like [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] - it has a soft yet strong feel, a classic vibe while also feeling fresh
[name_u]Dexter[/name_u] is okay, nothing wrong with it, but I always feel there’s something off about the sound (I realise that’s totally unhelpful, sorry, but I’m not sure what it is)

I love both names.
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m] I find very sophisticated and gentle.
[name_u]Dexter[/name_u] is very playful and carefree in my mind.

I think the full names work really well for adults, and [name_u]Desi[/name_u] and [name_m]Dex[/name_m] would be adorable nicknames for them as children. Though [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] and [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] aren’t really my style, I can see the appeal in their sophistication and their unique style.

[name_m]Desmond[/name_m] has been on my shortlist for a while: I fell in love hard and fast with that one. As pp said, it’s has a sophisticated and classic feel while still looking modern and usable. [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] is a little more trendy, but I’ve always liked how spunky it sounds. [name_m]Dex[/name_m] is also an adorable nickname. Both names definitely would fit well on both a child and an adult.

I like both, but I prefer [name_u]Dexter[/name_u]. [name_m]Dex[/name_m] is such a spunky and fun name for a little boy, and [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] works well for an adult. Had I been a boy, my mother would have chosen [name_m]Desmond[/name_m], but I’ve always struggled to imagine that being my name.

I absolutely love [name_m]Desmond[/name_m]! It has a bit of a cowboy vibe while sounding fashionably grandpa as well (to me at least). [name_u]Desi[/name_u] is cute! I prefer just [name_m]Des[/name_m] but both are great.
[name_u]Dexter[/name_u]'s a nice name, not as much my style as [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] but definitely handsome. [name_m]Dex[/name_m]'s lovely.

I love [name_u]Dexter[/name_u]! It’s got a slightly edgy, geek-chic vibe to it that I love, and the X sound and -er ending give it a wonderful energy. Very cool.

[name_m]Desmond[/name_m] is not my style, sorry. This might just be a British thing, but to me [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] is a 65-70 year old man. It’s not quite old enough to feel fresh yet to me. [name_u]Desi[/name_u] has a nice sound but it just makes me think of the word for the South [name_f]Asian[/name_f] diaspora, which is pretty current right now, at least where I am.

I absolutely love [name_m]Desmond[/name_m], such a beautiful name. I really, really like [name_u]Dexter[/name_u], too! But I prefer the soft appearance of [name_m]Desmond[/name_m].

Honestly [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] feels dated to me. not a bad thing, i like mid-century names and some people like 90s names. I l just find [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] far more refreshing

Thank you all so very much for your opinions and thoughts! I think I slightly prefer [name_u]Dexter[/name_u]…or at least at this moment. haha They both feel like names of a person that would be approachable and friendly. [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] definitely has a nerdy feel but in a cool geeky way. [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] seems more quiet, more book loving guy, while [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] as a spunky, tiny bit mischievous side. I feel like they are both guys preferring jeans over suits.
