Honest opinions about Eloise, Evelyn, and Hazel

Please give me your honest opinions about [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] have been on my long list for quite some time. I felt very neutral about [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] until very recently. Now I’m getting charmed by it and starting to love it. Didn’t think that would happen. Kind of like [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]. I actually thought [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] was a bit ridiculous as a name and suddenly adored it and could picture it as a name.

[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]'s not bad, but it feels overused to me, it’s in the top 10 in the US. One redeeming quality is that there’s a [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] short story titled “[name_f]Eveline[/name_f]”.
I really like [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]! It has a sweet, fun and light sound.
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]'s cute. Too popular for my own tastes but nice! It’s the name of my girlfriend’s cat but that honestly just makes the name seem cuter to me.

I would mirror pretty much exactly what @emmievis said. I really like [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is nice enough, but popular. I am not a fan of [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] myself, and it is incredibly popular where I live.

I love [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] - so cute, vintage, earthy and charming

[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] is bright, elegant and sweet, lively but sophisticated

[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is nice too though I only like it pronoucned eev-lin but I don’t think that’s the most familiar pn

[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] was my absolute favourite name for 15 years- but by the time I had a girl it had become so popular!! That puts me off of it. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] made it into my top 3, but I felt it might be a fad name that dates easily. [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] seems classic! I don’t love it but it is a beautiful name.

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]: have always loved it. I think its sound is lovely and soft but still bouncy. I also love that it’s a nature/word name.

[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]: another one I’ve always loved. I find it strong and smart and romantic. It would have been on my list for my daughter but it’s very popular in my area and I know two adult Evelyns as well.

[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]: this is a name I have never liked. I find it a bit childish, or maybe just too twee for me. Objectively, I think it’s a perfectly fine name to use; it’s got a nice lilt, it isn’t overly used, it’s relatively familiar, and it has a couple of nickname options (and I love [name_f]Louise[/name_f] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]). Logically, I should love it, but I just don’t.

[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] is a name I want to like but always sounds like a mouthful. With this name it feels like nick-naming is a necessity.

[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] sounds dated to me - in more of a middle aged way than a cute vintage way.

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is perfect. I love how it sounds cute on a child yet ages really well. I love how it’s feminine but doesn’t end in “a” like a lot of feminine names. I love how it has a nature connotation without being in your face. It’s such a great name.

[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]: I think it is completely adorable, but I can only see it on a child sadly. It’s just too cutesy even though I really want to love it.

[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]: this name is getting more popular, but it has been pretty big in my community for a while, so it feels overdone to me.

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]: I know this is also growing in popularity, but it still feels kind of dated/vintage to me. More vintage than dated I guess, but still too old for me. It’s a cute name in theory though, love the way it sounds.

Thank you very much for all your opinions!

I love [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] but mostly think I love it because I adore the nickname [name_f]Evie[/name_f]/[name_f]Evvie[/name_f] (ev-vie). I adore [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] but something puts me slightly off with it and I haven’t figured out what. I think I’m falling completely in love with [name_f]Hazel[/name_f].

They’re all beautiful names. [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is quite popular now though.

My favourite of the three is [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. It’s gorgeous: still underused where I am, and with beautiful warm, autumnal imagery and a wonderful soft-yet-spiky sound.

[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] has really grown on me. I love names with links to children’s literature, and this feels like a smart, sparky, sophisticated option.

[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is nice too. I generally dislike -lyn names, but this is one of the few that manages to feel chic, understated and timeless. I do find it (and other “[name_f]Eve[/name_f]” names) a little overexposed these days, so it’s not as exciting to me as the others, but still an impeccably sweet, solid traditional choice.
